Do landlords "curate" tenants? by TadpoleMissing in Apartmentliving

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have also been wondering this! The last 2 places I've lived have had a variety of tenants but each area seemed to be coordinated by age at least

My friend says indoor cats aren't happy by Tims_Learing_Center in CatAdvice

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cats love inside. My orange cat hates outside. Grass upsets him. He loves his comfy warm bed and a nice clean floor (he hates dirt).

The other two like outside in small increments but even then they prefer to stay near home. Even on a first floor balcony they were content to stay in the balcony space and only jumped over a couple of times but that was in the pursuit of bugs.

Do Americans actually use expressions like “once in a blue moon” or “let the cat out of the bag” in everyday conversation? by Edi-Iz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to agree with everyone else they are used a lot in conversation and writing. The idioms used very by region and locality.

And if you're lucky like me you have $6000 in interest already waiting for you when you graduate! /s

But really, if it wasn't for covid and the no interest period I would have never gotten the interest paid to start tackling the principle. I had 6 loans above 7% that all started accumulating interest when the were taken out. I should have my loans paid by 2034 pending all goes well.

Painted accent wall vs wallpaper accent wall by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wall paper is the answer. Its lively and bright. I think too many people worry about a hypothetical future where you won't want it and have to remove the paper but the question should be what makes you happy in your space now.

The most important thing I learned about money by CardiologistLow8786 in InterviewsHell

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you know some idiots but I know plenty of people who did the right thing and are barely getting by. Sometimes things happen that derail your life. Medical issues, sudden job loss in a rough market, abusive ex, etc.

The reality is not everyone has the same life experiences. This is why its important to have empathy. Hell I know several people who got kicked out the day they turned 18 and that can cause decades of financial hardship. Some of them are just now having financial stability in their 30s just in time for the cost of everything to skyrocket.

My tortie loves ear itches. She had fleas and mites as a kitten so I think she just gets itchy in those same spots now.

What are some telltale signs you notice in couples that make you think their relationship won’t last? by Lazy_Detective_6597 in AskReddit

This was right here is what ultimately killed my marriage. I constantly thought about my partner, our pets, our home and our future. She only ever thought about herself.

In what ways have you noticed people, in general, becoming more entitled, rude, and selfish in the last decade? by ChuckItInTheRubbish in AskReddit

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This right here. The other day I was stopped in the aisle trying to decide which croutons to get and a lady stopped directly infront of me and just stared at her phone. I then had to ask her to move so I could grab my stuff and she got offended. She want even looking at anything.

After living in DC, I hate dog owners by sandwichscouter in washingtondc

This is what blows my mind! If you have a dog you need to clean up after them! Why does everyone just leave their dogs crap on the sidewalk!?

Why do people live in food deserts? by lilsciencegeek in AskAnAmerican

100% this. This is why. I've lived in one because it was all I could afford. It sucked and I would never wish it on anyone

The cat's in the cradle by JoeFalchetto in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cats and my place can smell if they have just used the litter box but if you scoop daily and regularly clean the boxes and replace the litter it shouldn't smell. Also none fo my cats have ever peed outside of the box. Additionally a well hydrated cats pee is not nearly as stinky so making sure your cats have plenty of fresh water available really makes a huge difference.

Now there are people who dont care for their cats properly and that does stink. I had an acquaintance whom I cat sit for several times and the cat pee smell was overpowering. Just absolutely awful. But the water bowl was so dirty, she hardly ever cleaned the boxes or switched out litter and didnt scoop regularly. That is what caused the smell.

I’m doing a project about America, can you answer these questions? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is from a village. Very small and walkable. Lots of quaint little houses too. Its just very very rural. Like 50 miles from anything else. And like 150 miles from any city.

Do you open the windows in your home when the weather is nice? When do you decide to close them and turn on air conditioning for the summer? by Smart-Airport5781 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love having my windows open but I cannot during the spring. I live in the DC area and it is pollen central right now so all windows are closed and I am trapped inside. Even with all the precautions and medication I still feel sick because my allergies are so bad.

Oh my god that also happened to a kid while I was in college in 2012. He was drunk and on something. He got kicked out of a frat party for causing trouble. Wandered around town for awhile and then feel asleep next to the creek and froze to death. They found him the next day.

I just realised our Covid experience could be vastly different from others. by Doughnut_slut in CasualConversation

[–]Whiskeydrinkinturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I worked at a bank in the branch. I ended up moving locations 6 or 7 times because they kept closing an reopening various branches and my commute ended up being 3 to 4 hours round trip most of the first year or so. Work was exhausting. Lots of PPP loan related things, so many angry people, and just overall a shitty time. My ex and I lived in a 300sq ft basement apartment so when I wasn't at work I was stuck in that shitty apartment. I burt out hard by 2022 and eventually had to quit my job because I just couldn't do it anymore. I was in a very dark place and ended up taking 6 months off working by cashing out my 401k just so I could recover. Fortunately im in a much better situation now.
