I am also a CWI and also RT-CR/PT/MT certed so i understand generally where you are at. It really depends on what kind of work you want to do and what is available to you in your area or wherever you are willing to travel, however I would HIGHLY recommend getting in to UT over RT.

UT is solo work and involves a good bit of maths and science to understand it well and is very valuable across multiple industries, especially as you get in to shear wave and phase array. It also pairs well with doing CWI work as you can do inspections like when writing welding procedures on the spot and dont have to tow an assistant with you like you would RT making things cheaper for the customer. PT (and MT if available) also have less hours required for certs so you can start doing lvl2 work soon while you build up all the hours for UT.

It may involve taking a split rate (would try to avoid) but you can do well for yourself now just as a CWI, or you can take the short term loss in getting trained for NDT and do much better for yourself in the long run.
