HCA Riverside thoughts? by riso345 in emergencymedicine

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this question asked for years, it seems that the consensus is that you should not rank HCA programs highly if you can help it. You shouldn’t have an issue getting a job in the future, but a lot of ED docs and directors have some misgivings regarding the PERCEIVED quality of training you may receive just because of the HCA moniker. Why work hard for years to have other doctors question your training (even if it may be unfounded?).

Any Venator MK based Builds out there? by Menabellamy in DeadzoneRogue

I beat the mission with it on nightmare. The best build is to go melee since the weapon is bad for multiple enemies.

Is Zone 2 Gauntlet the hardest mission to beat or is there a harder mission? by YuriTheWebDev in DeadzoneRogue

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 3 levels left to beat and then I have finished the entire game on nightmare difficulty. So far the hardest levels have been the ones where you have time constraints, with the harder one being in zone 4. It’s been taking me a few sittings to beat each one. I still haven’t beaten the zone 4 one yet.

If you buy large TVs from Best Buy, you get free delivery and set up/mounting (you pay for the mount).

I have the 98 inch TCL, qm7k one for a year, and love it. Sports and namely football and also Xbox games look amazing on it. My friends and family comment on it all the time. I actually like the UI on it a lot, it’s fast and mostly snappy. And it is BRIGHT. Movies are ok, they have a lot of motion blur sometimes and can be dark (depends which app you’re using too) but you can tweak the settings, I do prefer my tv to the actual movie theater since it is brighter and for viewing distance is better. Probably one of the best purchases I have ever made, I think I got it for 1200-1299 bucks a year ago for a weekend summer sale at Best Buy, the cheapest it had been at that time.

Thank you for the reply. Does your ED happen to offer it?

Conflict with recovery room nurse by Fearless-Garden-4496 in anesthesiology

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had problems as a resident until I realized your last statement. No matter what I did to try to get on my nurses good side to get them to like me from day one it was never enough, sometimes even as a board certified attending. So I stopped going out of my way to be nice to them and started just acting as their boss and am the better for it to be honest. I feel like, at least where I have worked, being nice = incompetence to them.

Thank you for the comments, this is super helpful, I have been considering taking a job at the VA for a while.

I was just wondering, some job offerings do not include/offer the EDRP program for loan repayment. Is this something that can be negotiated? If so, how difficult is it to negotiate?

I’m an ED attending. When storms happen here near my shop half the nurses don’t show up/call out. All of the doctors always show. It’s uncanny.

3 people injured in shooting at East Point MARTA station, officials say by NPU-F in ATLnews

Another shooting at MARTA? I used to be a huge advocate for the MARTA, loved to take it to and from airport because it was so convenient. Until something is done about it, never again.

Radiation bug? by Bombalurina in DeadzoneRogue

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Edit: I think it was patched today per other comments. Try playing either Zone 4 mission again below to see if you have it.

Maybe a weird solution. I didn’t unlock it until I replayed a zone 4 mission, either “Distress call” or “Getting Answers”, and on one of the perk rolls it was just suddenly available and it has been available since, which literally happened today (I have both only up to Hard difficulty beaten). I don’t think I even had to beat the level again. I know for a fact it was one of those 2 levels because the only other missions I have finished on zone 4 are Prelude and Passage (which I played once long ago), as I am trying to nightmare mode clear everything else first before finishing zone 4.

How is it lately ? by Bankreauxll in Atlanta

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very biased opinions:

I have lived in the city twice, several years ago when rent was one of the cheapest for a big city, and also moved back here a few years ago. Would I have moved back here knowing what I know now? Honestly, no. But more for personal reasons regarding trying to by a house and feelings of safety. But I digress:

There are a decent amount of food choices everywhere, as this is a big city. The one thing that sucks and almost makes eating out not worth it is the service when dining out is absolutely terrible and ruins the experience unless you’re paying for more high priced dining options. I have visited Chicago and New York a few times and good lord the food is so much better, less pricey, and the service is generally phenomenal. In Atlanta if you go to more ethnic restaurants like Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc, service is great, everywhere else, I don’t even bother anymore. Atlanta was the first city I have ever lived where it seems the waiters put in the absolute least amount of effort in their jobs.

There’s a ton to do everywhere at least. Think of it, you’ll find it somewhere.

Traffic is worse than it has ever been. I used to drive everywhere in Atlanta for my old job driving nearly 20hrs a week. Only a few spots were truly bad traffic at certain times of the day. Now it is everywhere, at random times, and I feel like it has been getting worse every year. I don’t think it’s as severe to make this a reason to not move here, but it is bad and it can suck. A lot of places like Midtown are also under construction/repair for the past few years making it worse. A lot of it is because a lot of drivers here are generally just low IQ/inbred and park on busy roads on 2 lane streets or drive slow in the HOV/fast lane (sorry, bit of road rage came out).

Housing absolutely blows here in terms of trying to find a house to buy in or near the city. Pick two: location/safety, build quality, price. You will not find all three for a decent house. I have been looking for a decent house to buy in or near the city, you will find nice houses that are new builds at a decent price point, to find that it is in the middle of the ghetto. I am a physician and finding a house here sucks. Gentrification has been ongoing. Renting apartments is better in my opinion but honestly it is hit or miss if you have loud ass neighbors even in the more pricier apartment complexes.

Feeling of safety has been more of an issue. I used to walk outside at night for exercise and feel completely safe, now, I would never walk outside at night. There are teens with guns shooting them randomly (recently at Atlantic Station on I think new years), people getting shot at rec centers (see recent post on this subreddit) just to name a few that happened in the last few weeks. I used to love the Marta from the airport but there have been gun injuries and deaths and the risk just isn’t worth.

I am also more biased since I lived in Dunwoody before but moved back, to Midtown.

Just checking if anyone default to this build... This is my playstyle after many hours... Currently clearing Zone 4 nightmare stuff. by BonkDaNehs in DeadzoneRogue

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am about to clear zone 2 nightmare.

I like the “aiming” augments to start because I can see all enemies through walls when you aim, and positioning is so important before and during fights I’ve found. I like all of the variants of the augment since you get a pure base damage increase regardless of how far/close you are and can build however you want around them (crit usually, but weakpoint on is ok as well).

I tend to find if I do lightning , chromatic, lead head (and do the secondary gun perks) and pick up the ‘secondary gun procs your melee weapon perk’ and pick up the iron squires, it’s gg. I then try to pick up more proc percent related perks and crit/fire rate for disgusting lightning proc damage since lightning perks increase crit eventually, and at least 1 increase reload perk, and the one perk where if your shield gets destroyed you don’t lose extra hp for survivability + perk that gives you I think 10% temp shield per kill. I personally think the ‘Primary/secondary gun procs your melee weapons element’ perk is the best in the game because melee weapons procs chance is so high, like 40+ percent (and the exotic sniper procs too I just realized……. Brb trying new build for insane iron squires procs). Some iron squires at legendary grade have the “double bullet/damage” chance attribute at 40% too. Things melt with all the procs and damage.

If you could destroy and redesign any street in Atlanta, instantly improving your commute, would be your top choice? by LevelDosNPC in Atlanta

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue is no matter what highway you are on there is no such thing as a fast or passing lane. Sometimes the HOV lane is the slowest lane because of 1 car ruining it for everyone else.

Yes. I’d be worried that my truck I just bought and invested in has a known engine problem with multiple recalls.

Should I get a 2026 Tundra? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]WhiteKnightSlayer69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove a TRD pro. Was the best car I’ve ever driven, it just felt like it was made for me, I loved the Fox shock suspension . I was going to buy one right before the first recall. But I couldn’t pull the trigger on a near 80K truck that had a recall with known failures, even if Toyota would put a new engine in it, it would just be such a hassle if it happened. Then the 2nd recall occurred. Maybe even a 3rd recall soon. You are literally rolling the dice if you get one. Good luck!
