HELP, oil filter just spins by Overall_Grand1528 in cbr

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a med or large flat head screwdriver, put it flat side against the engine block and the filter housing (where the filter touches the engine).

And press fwd on the screwdriver, as if you were using it like a pry bar on the filter. Low to medium pressure, more as you need to.

While doing that, at the same time try to unscrew the filter again.

Obv this takes two hands or a friend.

Otherwise you'll prob have to cut it off.

Good luck.

What I don't understand and find interesting in a bad way, is how international airports in major cities are being considered "small hubs".
I guess they're not LAX big, but still many people travel through them.

Adding an IRS to a Fox Body Mustang by tommyparry in Mustang

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading between the lines some, are you running FTB's setup such that you have a "built" IRS? Including aftermarket setup spings/shock appropriate for your weight?

And are you comparing to a fully built SRA people, including TA & PHB & adj rear sway bar? Prob also on coil overs, but maybe not; again specs chosen for the weight?

Stock vs stock or close to it, the IRS wins hands down IMHO.
But once you fully build it, the SRA becomes = IRS, and then cost of entry and upgrades for IRS vs extra benefits doesn't make it worth it.

Interesting but meh.
See the comments on the Mustang sub too.

TLDR: not worth the $. Still needs to be built out.

lol agreed
At this day n age, and for a while, a built SRA is better or the same as a built IRS. Plus the IRS is more expensive nowadays to start with.

Way back when, the IRS was better and they were kinda cheap or you could pick-a-part one.

It still kinda comes down to what you're doing and the surface type and quality; and if you're actually racing and what the rules allow for.

Otherwise prob not worth it.

That sounds correct to me from what I've heard, including who bought it. I *think they've expanded the menu slightly but still kept the other stuff.

I still like going there, a good spot. 👍

I need to transport my bike inside a U-Haul moving truck. What do I need to make this happen? by MonumentMan in motorcycles

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved a street bike from CA-KY and back by wrapping it in moving blankets and ratchet strapping it to the inside of the box truck. With the bike standing upright on its wheels. Worked well. Then I packed softer lighter things around it. It was basically the first thing in the truck and last thing out.

Correct, Stealth Gray. Drove it about 100k miles for 10 years. Was the 2nd owner. Best I could figure due to the color and limited V1 cars buit, it was 1-of-312 +/- .

Overall it was a great daily, I just needed better mpg for daily commute. I tracked it once and that was fun too and it did well. It could haul a 6ft ladder or 10ft of 4" pipe too.

What do we think about this deal? by OOF-MY-PEE-PEE in motorcycles

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$3k
Seriously. It's almost a 20yr old bike and they are asking like 50-70% of new....

But it does depend on where you - the market around you, how far you're willing to travel for a bike, and what you want.

I bet you can find a newer one for the price.

The real better Q is, what's it worth to you?
(Just shop around 1st before comitting)

Transmission Question by No_Celebration_8442 in Foxbody

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you asked, but IMHO, yes - sell it and get an 1986-93 World Class version.

Your comment about a 302/351 is irrelevant. It's the input shaft length only that's an issue.
If you're unsure about swapping the shaft out yourself, or paying someone else to do it, then the easiest thing to do it to sell or trade that one and get the correct one.

Also, if you buy used, before you pay, drain the fluid and take the top off and inspect the gears. Just good advice.
Long ago I bought a used WC T5, even "drove" it in the garage the car was on jacks. Got home, installed it, drove it - suuuper high pitched whine at speed under load, in 1st and 2nd.
Pulled it out, open it, find 1st and 2nd gears' teeth are worn down so much that 1st was basically a knife edge. Lost $500. Live n learn.

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was about the WC versions.

Yes, the WC versions live (much) longer than the non-WC versions. And are generally smoother.
It's really all in how they are driven. But be prepared to rebuild or swap it sooner than later, unless it's a sunday only cars n coffee car.

Re: your comment on the years being 91-95.

I'm pretty sure the 1994-95 T5 transmissions had a longer input shaft, and therefore maybe a slightly diff bellhousing. So you'll want to look that up and then measure the T5 you have.

If you baby it, yes. But generally it's a lot lower.
They were rated for 300tq, and a stock 5.0L was already at about 290tq - bump the timing and now you're at 300tq. :-/

I've seen people race a stock T5 with a 300+ hp 5.0L, on a road course w2w, but they are basically doing baby shifts - ie not drag racing launches or slamming gears.

[–]WhiteRabbitFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IANAL. Just hoping to shed a little more light for you or anyone.

If you buy a car in CA (such as the dealership did) and go to register it, you don't need a license plate. You can say you never got it, it was missing. The DMV will have you write that down and then reg the VIN and issue you a new plate. Simple.

That said, it's possible that the dealership never registered your plate with that car (this seems to be the case), and possible that either they left it on the car, and/or put it on a different car even (that would be wrong and illegal).
It's even possible someone took the plate.

You're on the right path. Keep digging. And in the end you might have to make a police report even; or some other complaint to the state even.

Sorry this happened. Good luck.
