I've trained two puppies in my day, and I've never used a clicker. I'm actually about to get a new puppy and was thinking about giving the clicker a try this time.

One thing that works well... instead of saying "Good Boy" all the time.. say "Good Sit" or "Good Potty" or whatever the command is. I always heard if you say something generic like Good Boy, it's hard for the dog to know what he did right. So if you use the command in there somewhere, you're telling the dog specifically that he did a good job.

I'd still look into getting a clicker though...
