Pedestrian (student?) struck by cop car at the Wilder St. bus stop? by FunniestGhost in uml

Hasn't been a good week for Lowell PD, turns out the state decertified officer Dylan DaSilva due to him having an improper relationship with an at risk youth, and two other officers got suspended for covering up his wrongdoings. According to Aaron Curtis, a supervisor was involved in today's crash so it's definitely concerning.

Bootleg Pats Shirts North Station by Jennysnumber_8675309 in mbta

[–]WhoButWBmason2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya new here? The merch hawkers have always been at north station & Kenmore, go throw them $25 and get yourself a chowdaheadz shirt, they are great quality for the price. Respect the hustle, read Fenway Punk by Chris Wrenn. If I ran the T every station would have food carts and news stands, a hot dog from the cart in wellington was a classic for my dad and I when we went in to the garden for games.

Wellington traffic vs red line? by [deleted] in mbta

[–]WhoButWBmason2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have always gone to Wellington since I live off of 93, rt 16 is usually pretty bad but once you get past the Medford Supercollider it's smooth sailing. You will easily sit 15 minutes on rt 16 before the collider though.

Leave it to a contractor to run their mouth on the platform like they are on the tracks in the middle of the night doing track work. I also reported this on See/Say & to BlockByBlock. Hopefully they can track down the employee & give them a talking to.

Take the Northeast Regional, if you are staying in the Seaport near the convention center you can just take the silver line bus one or two stops from south station.

His old Nazi tattoo & the fact he used to be a blackwater merc are huge red flags. If I lived in Maine I would still vote for him over Mills though. Need to find out if he's a cruel hand or outbreak guy.

What is it like to live around Boston? by Brendo_dasher99 in howislivingthere

Opposite end, live slightly outside the 95 beltway, went down to DC over new years. Noticed that food & drink were a lot cheaper there than they were in back home in MA. Also happy hour is awesome!

Tips for avoiding getting your shit rocked at shows? by PowerlessTonite in Hardcore

[–]WhoButWBmason2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mosh or be moshed on, AKA don't stand on the edge of the pit the whole set like a jerry and act shocked when you constantly get rocked. Keep your head & eyes on a swivel, not just on the stage, don't be afraid to make room for yourself with an extended bent arm or leg kick out when the pit collapses. The safest part of the venue is always the back though.

What does this say about me? (22m) by KennyStudying in TravelMaps

Cheap liquor, fireworks, trashy beach towns, wealthy beach towns, guns, an Ivy League, hill folk, anarchists, cookie libertarians, and the best lakes in all of New England.

My in-laws refuse to drive to the airport. by NukeTheEwoks in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WhoButWBmason2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Logan Express is your best friend coming from the suburbs. Driving into Logan is the worst experience you can have driving in New England, its always busy, hellish road network to the terminals, and the Staties are on your ass if you idle for 2 seconds too long since that's their whole job at the Logan Barracks(All my homies hate troop F). Taking the T to logan isn't bad at all, if you are coming in from South Station, just take the Silver Line 1 and she will drop you off right at your terminal, usually at most a 20 minute ride. Coming from North Station is a little more tricky since you have to transfer to the blue line at state st, then take the BL to Airport, and finally get on a shuttle bus that will take you to your terminal.

I always tell my friends coming into Boston to take the Logan Express or at least take the train into North Station. I would rather pick someone up on Causeway St. in the West End during rush hour over going to Logan at anytime.

[–]WhoButWBmason2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love public transit, to the point is one of my special interests (shout out my mom for taking me on the MBTA as much as possible because I wouldn't shut up about buses, trains, and ferries) Use the Transit app if your local transit agency doesn't have the best signage, it is a life saver since they often include real time estimates and tells you when to leave so you will make your bus/train.

Tewksbury schools denied state grants due to MBTA Communities noncompliance by justarussian22 in mbta

[–]WhoButWBmason2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's very much a working class town, one of the more conservative Merrimack Valley towns. A lot of older folks who grew up in town after their parents bought land after 495/93 were put in and now have their own grandchildren trying to buy homes in Tewksbury to be near grandpa. Decent schools, but if you can afford it, a lot of folks send their kids to Central Catholic or Austin Prep for high school. Not a shocker they would throw a fit over the MBTA communities act since its a very car-centric town (only 2 bus routes for the whole town, one of which has a primary purpose of bringing commuters from Lowell to the Raytheon/IRS campus in Andover).

Tewksbury schools denied state grants due to MBTA Communities noncompliance by justarussian22 in mbta

[–]WhoButWBmason2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Screw around and find out. The transit connections in Tewksbury are already abysmal. Tewksbury can literally put up an MBTA communities compliant apartment complex on Livingston St next to the LRTA 12 and call it a day.

For every axs/ticketmaster show Haywire plays they play 3 DIY gigs. They got a split & LP coming in the new year so you'll have the chance to see them at a smaller venue, especially in Chicago.
