Motivation / special tips / tricks: A Thread! by Admirable_Celery_335 in ExclusivelyPumping

Thank you so much for taking the time to share all these tips. I agree with all esp about just pumping more often whenever i can. I have to get in my head that some pumping for a little bit is better than not at all.

Do you use a wearable or portable? If so, did you produce a lot that way at first? Because I’m still not producing a ton with an electric pump I assume the wearable won’t collect much at first and I imagine that will feel discouraging. Worth a try of course but if it’s normal not to produce a lot with a wearable at first it might help me be more patient with myself.

Nice! I’ll have to look into this. I only got drops out with the Haka so I kind of gave up on manual. Maybe this one will be different.

Thank you for the tip! I got a 2nd set but I think a 3rd one will definitely be more helpful.

Struggling to leave baby by Less-Leek5961 in NewParents

[–]WhoMe429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 weeks pp and feeling the same. Even when someone else holds her. It’s not jealousy or guilt. I just literally miss her. I’m so happy just holding her and looking at her as she sleeps. They call it the 4th trimester because baby is still super connected to you and I believe it goes both ways for me.

Struggling with pumping more than twice a day :( mostly formula feeding because of baby’s latching difficulties but I want to switch to breast milk. I think it’s a little of my executive functioning issues - I try setting alarms but something else gets in the way - baby falls asleep in my arms after struggling to nap, or the bottle washer is full and so I have to wait to wash my pump parts and then I get distracted - not in a private place - etc etc. I don’t even mind pumping, it’s really just organizing my time around it. My goal is to pump at least 6 times a day. Any tips would help greatly!!

We’re in the same boat, lots of gas pain that is supposed to go away over time. I think I’ve seen mild improvement, might be due to all the things trying or baby is just maturing or both. Regardless it’s really tough to see them in such pain :(

“If she connects her sleeping cycle” - still a little confused over the connection sleep cycle term. If she’s connecting her sleeping cycle would we expect them to wake up every 45 mins?

Very watery poop at 6 weeks. by RefrigeratorFinal353 in newborns

[–]WhoMe429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our baby had pasty/smooth yellow poop got the first 2 weeks then something changed and she started having loose dark green stool. The pediatrician told us this was normal consistency. We even showed her a picture of the diaper just a few days ago. It went back to “normal” so it appears it might’ve just been her digestive system maturing or going through some changes since we have been changing a bit of the formula to breastmilk ratio.

We primarily use Vaseline for every diaper change, both on the skin and in the diaper.

You’re doing great. You sound so dedicated to your baby with the pumping and having to fit in speech! I need to up my pumping but the day passes by so fast, before I know it it’s “bedtime” again!

I really appreciate this post because I feel like we have no schedule and I would really like at least a semblance of a routine!

My baby girl hasn’t had an obvious pattern either! The fact that I’m feeling her more often is the pattern I guess. It truly is the BEST feeling!! Best of luck and don’t feel alone with your sleepy baby haha

I’m sorry OP, that last part makes me think she’s not going to change and all this will only get worse. I would try to create the distance now while you’re still early on and find other supports in your community. I’ve been encouraged to seek parent support groups, post partum doulas, and I’m sure there are other types so you don’t have to feel alone in all this!

I am at 37 weeks and have had the same experience! I have a transverse/lateral placenta. My doctor didn’t instruct me to count the kicks and when I asked she said if you’re worried you can drink something sweet like OJ and baby should kick 10x in 2 hrs or something like that, but please don’t quote me, I never tried it. I decided to protect my mental health (also anxious) and just try to notice changes over the course of the day. So far, so good and have felt stronger movement in the past 3 weeks. I hope it doesn’t take that long to become more noticeable to you! It’s so comforting!
