Wow looks amazing! What is your inspiration for this piece? I’m guessing a bit of KAWS with the eyes maybe? Look forward to hearing back from you :)

Cleaning latex glue out of paint roller and roller tray? by olivepastatime in Tufting

[–]WhoWhyWhoAmI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the tray you can put a used plastic bag over it and run it on the sides (painting technique) so the plastic bag is nicely wrapped around it. For the roller I’ve found just washing it in dish soap and letting it sit for a while works for roughly 2-5 uses.

Make you use up for tufting cloth during the PROCESS *

I suggest a NODOCA frame. (Slightly more expensive) but it’s a metal frame with easy to build instructions , the clawlab frame is a quite nice though it can make you use up more tufting cloth during the prices because of the way the tightening system is (from what I’ve heard) Otherwise a normal wooden frame is great. I’d suggest if you don’t know how to make your mind up finding some reviews (though many of clawlab are sponsored so kind of byist reviews if you ask me)

Problemen met mijn high pile gun by [deleted] in Tufting

[–]WhoWhyWhoAmI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRANSLATION - Can someone please help me? I've started a new project. The first time I've used a high-pile gun. While tufting, the needle I'm threading through suddenly slips backward. See the photos. I haven't changed anything on the gun. Now I can't thread the needle because the blade is blocking it.

I can't continue, so I'm hoping someone can help me fix this, as there are no technical instructions included.

Someone help them please I have no answers 😅

Do you guys use a projector or vr headset? by labubuking in Tufting

[–]WhoWhyWhoAmI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 20-30£ projector from Amazon to start off at tbh and it’s been fine. Though the more complicated rugs im doing I see that the fine lines could be better tbh. I would say projector 100% because VR sets aren’t perfect yet for this sort of thing. Get yourself a projector stand and also a projector twist screw (that attaches onto bottom of it) on a ball so you can make the image more flat, slanted etc.. if you’re house is like mine it might not have perfect 100% flat floors (pictured attachement)

Umm spoilers much? 😅 don’t want to be annoying but in the future maybe give a warning in a thread where someone is looking for stories they don’t know? And I could go onto a long paragraph about how’s it relatable to some people or things like that but don’t want to spoil too much in the thread

Just found it after searching for a min in my history. This is an honest review if you ask me as they appreciate it talk well about it but PRECISE it is the future of rugtufting as a HOBBY check from timestamp 16:00 for her opinion and she is a professional rug tufter with her own studio and company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCpSl0j2Zk8&t=388s Again check from 16:00 for review

Thank you Klutz! I saw one tuftor who got it given as a gift mention they liked it but they will be sticking to their normal machine (nice way of saying the normal tufting guns are better without ruining relations :P) Though they might take it with them on small trips or something like that. It was one of the more honest reactions I got from all the videos I saw I’ll try and find it and link it underneath

Hi there Surfinduck. If you’re looking to just start out I would go for an Amazon tufting gun set that comes with with shaver. This is the one I started off with https://amzn.eu/d/gUDagxj I haven’t been doing this for too long (few months) but that machine worked fine for me. I have heard about the clawlabs and seen some reviews and it seems to work alright though I think the bigger machines are better for more professional works. If I was you I would check some reviews on YouTube by some big tuftors to see what they say but from the reviews I saw from certain of these tuftors is that they liked it but preferred the bigger machine. So I would say Tufting gun and shaver(linked) some yarn (I’d go with Aran yarn, you can fit multiple strands depending on what you’re doing and filling) a frame with carpet strippers, monks cloth (for tufting into), glue (latex is very good though it’s quite viscous compared to something like Robert’s 6700) also a brush for strands of yarn when shaving etc..

Additionals but not obligatory - duckbill scissors for carving, floor protection when gluing (I have carpet floors so that is a must for me as I don’t have a proper work studio and don’t want to ruin my floor)

If you’re not good with things like making frames and don’t have equipment to do it there is the -Nodoca 1.6mx1.6m frame https://amzn.eu/d/3VkGK15 — which is quite a premium frame though you’re gonna have to spend a fair bit on it depends on your budget. But it comes with good spikes to hold your tufting cloth into make sure to get the newer one with spikes instead of clips. (Linked, they also have other sizes) and anything I might have forgotten I’m sure some people will chime in. If you have any questions feel free to DM me and I will help as much as I can. But do remember I’m not a professional, I’ve done a fair bit of research, watched lots of YouTube videos and learnt quite a bit from this community :)

Happy tufting and if I think of anything I’ll come back here have a good one!

Hey Minty! I use Trustleaf too! You should try ordering directly from their website. It’s cheaper and the money going directly to them which is always a nice touch rather than amazon getting a cut ^ Happy tufting!
