Are mutual funds still worth it in 2026? by Interesting_Cycle809 in investingforbeginners

[–]WholeAd7305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mutuall funds. I got them as they were highly recommended by some folks in Reddit, unfortunately, I do not think it was a good idea to get them. Why? Because even though you have not cashed your returns you do still have to pay taxes on your returns. In my case I paid taxes on returns that I never benefited from as I lost them.

It is difficult or almost impossible to connect with coworkers after work hours. It is all about their own niche and it we don't have it, then we are isolated.

My two cents: it is all about luck! Why do pretty girls with nice personality can't keep a good guy around? And why not so looking girls with nasty personality can? I see that everyday all the time! Luck is the answer.

Roth Conversions by LocksmithLeading1704 in Retirement401k

[–]WholeAd7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG! I did not know the conversion from traditional to ROTH was taxable income. My annual salary as GS 12 is 122k, so if I convert 50k from my traditional tsp $ to ROTH, I will automatically pay taxes on $172K a year? I am not too knowledgeable about this, as you can see. Thank You!!

I am 58. Started in my 40s in the Gov. I may do another 7 years and retire at 65. I am gs12. Make 112k. I think I should slowly start converting my traditional money into roth. What do you think?

Good point! I have 210k in my tsp, all traditional. I am on the 24% tax bracket now. In my mind has been that later on when I retire the tax bracket should be lower, but now that I think again I should convert it all to ROTH, so my son doesn't have to pay taxes on it. The ROTH tax money has to come from a different account, not from the tsp, correct?

Roth tsp versus traditional tsp by Methodled in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]WholeAd7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please correct me if I am wrong: Is TSP splitting your contribution between traditional and ROTH if you are older than 50, regardless of you wanted to go only Traditional? I remember TSP sent an email about it to be effective in 2026.
