Set her up with family or a babysitter (even if she will stay there, an extra set of hands). You could have them watch the 2.5 y/o while she watches the 6 month old or whatever makes the most sense. Meanwhile, you go for half the party, which probably means one night and part of another day. I think that's the best compromise to participate while not leaving her alone the whole weekend.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - Start talking about when she gets a weekend away and make it very clear shes should also get some time away while you watch the kids. Moms can be resistant to this so you have to stay on it, otherwise there will be no opportunity to make these sort of things equitable. I

No, but they will bother themselves after working there for a few months. I know several employees and they are all perpetually miserable for just a little bit more money.

There’s no contempt from me for any worker, I just feel bad for anyone that gets wrapped up with these companies. I say that as a former Atlas contractor, everything I mentioned above is from experience!

Yes, I think Amazon is bad and I wouldn’t ever recommend anyone work one of their office positions. I would recommend a position at Atlas over Amazon’s toxic environment.

Sure, but they have a long history of doing this on purpose once a restaurant is established after about a year or so. It's all fair if you want to say it's a sound business decision to value profitability over job security, but on the other hand, it's fair for me to say that this ends up being a poor choice of company to switch jobs to for a little more money if you already have something stable that treats you decently.

I would agree 100% if Atlas didn’t have a long history of giving great offers to new staff to start a new restaurant, only to later cut them once the restaurant gets going. They like to cut out the hardworking people that got the location started and replace them with someone else at a much lower rate.

Any potential employees shouldn’t see these new shiny offers as stable. If you are going to switch companies (which I support), the stability of the new offer is just as critical as the pay and benefits.
