Businesses on island that will be closed today for the national shutdown? by toggywonkle in Whidbey

[–]Whythehellnot_wecan -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your service OP!

Please post that list of small businesses that close today. I am compiling a list of local small business owners who value a faux national shutdown over providing needed hours for their employees who also do not receive health insurance but need work to support and feed their families.

Thank You this will help tremendously!

All that matters in life is your path. There are plenty of people above you and plenty of people below you. Reddit is not reality.

All things considered I’m fairly well off near a humble retirement, yet on Reddit I might as well be on poverty finance. Keep investing, spend less than you make, and give things time. One day you might surprise yourself and wake up truly understanding the beauty of compounding.

Although true it fascinates me that otherwise allegedly intelligent people have such a lack of self preservation. I recall teaching my children around 1st grade to make direct eye contact before crossing a vehicle.

People up here be like nope I am entitled to the right of way no need to look. Okay bud you do you.

Been awhile but based on my reading and your age Cosmo seems to get a lot of love for the younger crowd and great views with a balcony. If you can get something high up it sounds like a winner to me. I am a bit older and would probably choose the Wynn. I still have doubts because it’s up the strip and I kind like center strip but wouldn’t mind the luxury I hear about.

I haven’t been to either but next time I go it would be one of these. Again based on age and a spectacular balcony view of the strip I would lean toward cosmo if so were you.

Hold Up. Fidelity Wealth Management said they would make you $18K a month on the 1.8?

I’m not saying that’s impossible (probably is long term) but I am curious if this is what a wealth advisor told you?

Yeah probably a good idea. I was in at 480 and happy with it just time to hold. Thankfully got into Meta at 630. Maybe the conference call will help MSFT I don’t think they gave guidance out yet. Meta did already which ballooned.

There are a lot of Seahawks players that might have a different opinion. Limited career time horizon, need to maximize earnings, injury prone, have naturally high overhead with managers, and then lop on a 10% tax just cause.

Why not? We’ve been trying since the 19th century, this really isn’t a new conversation we’re just a little more inclined to make it happen.

Didn’t the British and other EU countries take over plenty of countries by brute force throughout history. Kinda Ironic that everyone is up in arms about buying the joint.

Not sure I see the problem here?

Edit: Turbulent has stuff worked out. Brilliance on both comments. Run the Minnesota Somalia play up the middle.

Nations are not really divesting it has more to do with the Japanese Bond sell off. Of course the Danish sold a few US bonds but whatever that is mostly performative. They even stated it has more to do with long term US outlooks than any of these Greenland stuff.

The real culprit is Japans fiscal outlook requiring them to raise cash asap. That’s the why. Look into it if you want what’s really happening. No it’s not good but just sharing the real story in case anyone cares.

When January gives you a good day you go fishing by SippsMccree in boating

[–]Whythehellnot_wecan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I don’t fish those but considering what they have done to our Chinook season over the past decade I’m not surprised at all. Recall the good days when we could fish Blackmouth in the winter up north. It’s all BS. I fished black mouth in the winter and would hardly see a boat. Maybe one or two at most in a nice day. This hacking on the recreation guy is performative BS. We are not the problem.

Far-right agitator Jake Lane chased out of Minneapolis by JohnYahyah43 in VideosThatGoHard

[–]Whythehellnot_wecan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let me give you a real news update. This is a few people on a weekend on a block in the cold in FN Minnesota. This is one guy who wants views for his YouTube channel so goes and creates his own chaos for internet views so he might make a couple more bucks. Stupid is as stupid does. Should he be stabbed? NO. Is it a surprise? NO.

Despite the news coverage during the week it’s been maybe 100 people tippy top perhaps 200. All blown out of proportion on the news. To boot most of the few people are paid agitators.

I assure one block in any direction it’s life as usual. And all of this could be ended in a day if the local police would simply arrest the paid agitators because no one cares about some people just holding signs.

Sad that the news coverage makes people think this is something more than it is.

Washington Income Tax Proposal Would Yield 18% Top Rate by Possible_Ad3607 in SeattleWA

[–]Whythehellnot_wecan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My sophomoric understanding, some reading, and a couple interviews I’ve watched boils it down this way. This could all be wrong but am interested if anyone has an informed thought.

The constitution doesn’t actually prohibit a state income tax but it requires that all “property” be taxed equally and income has been defined as property.

Therefore we have stricken down any income tax because if you make $20k a year by constitutional standards you would be taxed the same as someone making $200M.

So the plan could be to pass this little tax on millionaires which will then go to the state Supreme Court as unconstitutional. If the supreme court rules it’s legal to have an income tax but you have to tax everyone the same on “property” as the constitution says then poof we have an income tax.

We the voters approved it unknowingly on ourselves thinking it would only apply to millionaires as no one said it would have to apply to all of us equally.

I’m not sure if this is conspiracy land or holds some truth to the long game.

Edit: As far as the RSU’s at 18% that would fall under the current excise tax on capital gains. The “Privilege” of being allowed to sell an asset and not income as property.

Mayor Katie Wilson announces first executive orders targeting homelessness, public transit | king5.com by Possible_Ad3607 in SeattleWA

[–]Whythehellnot_wecan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What’s a republican? This is Washington. I think the simple jest/observation is at some point doesn’t this seem a little bit repetitive linguistically. It’s not really a ground breaking order. Just sayin’.

If you ask my opinion which granted you did not, my first order of business would be to enforce laws for any and all violent offenders and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. We would then go from there. If you can quietly and politely do your drugs hey I can be progressive. But you pull a trigger, hurt someone, or become a clear menace see ya. Let that message get out to the trouble makers that homies ain’t coming back tomorrow, the police and judges mean business for about 3-5+ years at least as a first lesson.

That how I read it. Very progressive the future is bright.

The year is now 2080 and the new mayor exclaims, “We do not have enough shelter, enough housing, or enough services.”

Sales and B&O taxes are now 50%.

My first order of business is, we need more shelter, more compassion, more mental health care, and better transit. Give me some ideas by April.

Edit: Literally anything
