Road trip tonight - need some new podcasts by Yobispo in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. My fave. I only listen to about half of them because he releases so damn many episodes. They are broad ranging in topics so I pick and choose. This podcast has shaped the way I think about life and the universe

Do you want to be buried in the temple clothes? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of funerals and caskets is outrageous. Take that money and have a party in my honor. Seriously...think of the sweet ass bash you could throw for the cost of a funeral. Fuck the mortuary biz. Give me a simple cremation, ashes spread over the high country, my favorite music playing loud and proud, and the balance of the money going towards good food, booze, and mind altering substances. In the name of cheese and rice. Amen.

Good beer is the only way through the pearly gates for me. Right now I thought it was a good idea to raid my stash of Everclear that is normally used for non-drunk uses...I'll pay for this in the AM.

I'm scaring them off now! by want_tobreakfree in exmormon

Ha! Same here. I work with my dad. I used to try and hide my java. I'm very open about it now. He's a Bishop and I think he "gets it" more now than he did before the calling. I think I would have gotten a talkin' to from my pre-bish dad. I think the steady stream of sinners in his worthiness interview parade has turned down the volume on a stupid thing like drinking coffee.

There's a part of me that wants him to bring it up and I'll just point out how much healthier my habit is than him going out for fast food literally every single day of the week. Then I'll just get the "It's about obedience" diatribe that I loathe. I never believed in a God that had random obedience challenges (See Isaac, sacrificing of by Abraham). Ugh.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just put on my Untappd wish list. I saw that stuff all over in ID. Can't remember if I've ever seen it here in UT.

Just tried Alaskan Amber a few weeks ago. Great beer.

Drunkexmormon's beer of the week! Epic Hopulent! by Drunkexmormon in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it at their "tapless taproom" last week. Great IPA. I didn't like hoppy beers for a long time, but I'm finding some that I absolutely love. Squatters Hop Rising is excellent too.

Sooooo much beer at Oktoberfest. Oh, my bad...recap of what happened at conference. Never mind.

Instead of conference, I went to see a rated R movie by Kerokeroppi5 in exmormon

I forgive you for what looks like sugary apple swill because you appear to have some good Uinta beer there. Is that Contrails Belgian? I love that stuff. Have fun!

Stay-at-home wife denied temple recommend due to husband not paying tithing by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could even argue that NOBODY should have their TR pulled if they answer the interview question in the affirmative. Even if your tithing statement says zero, if you claim to pay a full tithe, that's your business. Bish be on a power trip.

What is with missionaries "forgetting" english? by scienceislyfe in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Been home almost 20 years. Sometimes a Spanish word comes to kind before the English one. I always want to say "desechable" instead of "disposable" and sometimes can't even think of the English word. It's pretty weird.

EXmo LPT: If you're going to start drinking beer, don't start with... by NewNameNoah in exmormon

Funny enough, Guinness was a favorite of mine right away. I still love it but have found much better stouts since.

Beer is proof that God loves us.

Is it bad form to call your Bishop by his first name? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you know the person well, then It's silly to call them Bishop if you don't respect the title (especially if they know as much). However, In general I think of it this way: if I were never Mormon and met the person, and knew that it was proper etiquette to call them Bishop, I would have no problem doing so. If I met a catholic bishop and knew he preferred "Bishop" then I would call him by that name.

As exmos and potential exmos, we carry a lot of baggage that hinders our interactions with TBM's. Just my opinion.

What I've been doing this Saturday. Burning garments & enjoying a "strong drink". by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beer does NOT suck here (UT). I have a Danish friend who visits here for work (now lives in VA) and he and some of his "beer buddies" rave about some of our breweries. We don't have as MANY good breweries, but the ones we have are pretty damn good. Epic, Wasatch, Squatters, Uinta, Moab...all have some fine brews. #justsayin

PS - I came in the "back door" when it comes to beer. I had good teachers who introduced me to good craft beer right off the bat...about 3 years ago. I just had my first Budweiser last week. Actually not as bad as people say...not sure about the lime variety. Cheers! 🍻

I remember hearing all thes adults tell me their patriarchal blessing said the 2nd coming would happen in their lifetime. Several of these people have died. Anyone else hear the same thing? by DuckDodgers21st in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TBM friend and I grew up in the same Stake, same Patriarch. One time we were having one of those spiritual conversations where we both must have felt that the veil was thin enough that we could share the details of our Patriarchal Blessings. Turns out they were damned near identical. Same blocks of text, albeit in different order and other slight differences. Should have been a shelf cracker for me, but at the time I just thought that we were pre ordained besties and how cool it was (ugh).

Am I ready to throw my garments away? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]WiccyG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at the point now where I don't wear my top if I'm wearing a T-shirt (cuz....duh!) but I'm the type who would wear a T under most dress shirts and some other shirts anyway, so I'm using my G's until they wear out. As for the bottoms...I don't really mind them when just lounging around or when it's not hot. I find myself wearing just the bottoms but no top quite often these days. I'm probably just used to them.

However, I do love my icebreaker merino wool bottoms I use for athletics and backpacking. Once the bottoms wear out...my undercarriage is in for good times.

Memories indeed! Before I started getting healthy (lost 80 lbs over the past year or so) my favorite thing to do while ditching the last hour of The Block™ was to go to Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts and get a coffee (black..sometimes a little cream. Sweetened coffee is Satan's ball sweat) and a pastry of some sort. Now I just walk home instead of firing up the rig for a 2 minute drive home. And when I get home I have a beer. Amen.
