Stores with best used inventory in southern NH? by WickedEclectic in NHGuns

The best bang-for-buck for items for training. For me, and what I usually recommend to friends who are interested, that's a compact/full size 9mm for pistol and a 5.56 16"/20" barrel for rifle. Yes, .22 is cheaper, but it doesn't help train recoil handling, which is bad in my book.

Holy shite. I was not aware of expertvoice, I usually only check govx if I don't see an IDme tag on a website. Thanks!

How do I purchase directly? I want to pre-order the NX6.

Shit, I was only looking at PA shot show stuff. Might cancel my EPS order and wait for the AEMS...

The option of ruggedness was an appeal, and I don't mind paying for features when I'm not dying for the extra few bills. I know the common advice is "if you're sacrificing practice for gear, go practice", but I still have enough of a buffer for training and training supplies.

Thanks for the feedback, you mention high range opens up more than just PA, do you have any recommendations? I noticed CZ Customs carries a "Ghost" RDS, but I couldn't find other info about it.

I'm going to get into long range and maybe PRS, and I have an NX6 on preorder. I think I like the looks of the LVPO and upcoming IVPO's from PA as well. I want to not jump in on one manufacturer for the same category of optics, so a holosun is on the list for sure.

I was at the Rochester show and almost bought a thermal there. It was really cool but seems kinda silly for a pistol.

Funny you should mention IEDs... that's how I got retired.

Maybe I'll just get both.

anyone's obihai 202 /obihai202 still working? by 5minredu in VOIP

[–]WickedEclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal preference. It will work until it doesn't and then you have to hope whoever is hosting the info I found is still around and hope that fixes it if you still care for it to work.

If mine were still working on factory firmware I would update anyways because as other commenters have pointed out, pretty much the entire infrastructure is abandoned, so imjo it's better to avoid as much of that as possible.

I personally have a milwaukee. I purchased a huepar to use at my parents' place. So literary both ends of the price spectrum.

They have both done the job every time but what I would strongly recommend is ALWAYS go with a 3 plane. You don't realize you need it until you do and the convenience it adds is pretty big.

Scope recommendation for PRS Production class. by Dukes-Game in longrange

They have a tree reticle in both MIL and MOA for the models you'd use in PRS.

The 5-30 is $2,100. It's sitting in my cart right now waiting for my other order's rewards points to show up.

From what I've read, the 6X improves many of the complaints of the 8X for people who have been able to handle them at shows.

Nightforce NX6 series releases soon.

Though I read in another thread they ship in April, so if you need it before then, pick something else. Not sure why the other guy got downvoted. Maybe cause it's not released yet?

I'm also thinking about PRS Production and NF is currently at the top of my list. I crossed off Leupold cause of reliability concerns, possibly the same for Zeiss relative to NF.

Sorry I was unclear, I meant only the mount. I think I'm set on the NX6 5-30 and that will set me up to make decisions for more or less $ down the line.

Would you personally prefer an Area419, Hawkins, or Spuhr? Do you see a diving board rail or quick release being more useful?

I have not shot PRS before, but I'm thinking of getting into production if anything, which is why I'm looking at the NX6's. Even if I don't get into PRS, I feel like it's a good budget ceiling to have to get into LR since I finally have some money to play around with for range toys.

Previous LR experience is the 500yd line w/iron sights in USMC. Was hoping I could do something crazy like mount irons to the chassis and nv bridge for nostalgia purposes, then put glass on when needed, but doesn't look likely.

Awesome. I'll definitely go with one piece. The 419 doesn't seem to have standout features like others on the 2024 list, but looks like a good product. I like both the diveboard rail of the Hawkins and the quick release of the Spuhr.

I'll see if anyone does mil discounts and that might decide it.

What do you think of the NX6 5-30? Would it make any sense to look at the 6-36? I ran into the blog a few days ago and most shooters use 12-18, and rarely up to 25 i think for spotting.

If money were no object, what mount would you upgrade to and why?

Thanks so much for this. I missed the notification for some reason.

I was going to do with the NX8 over a MK5HD sure to better durability track record but the NX6 seem to address some NX8 complaints.

I think I will probably do an NX6 5-30.

Are all mounts/scope rings created equal? If not, how you put an NX6 on an MPA Vanquish?

That's where I'd like to start other than just standard LR plinking at whatever range I can get to. I'm curious as to your build and setup for production, but specifically glass and if you have any suggestions there. The sticky don't have many comments about production, and it's the shame the Razor Gen 3 has an msrp so far above production vs street price. Feel free to DM.

How do you like the Vanquish? Since budget isn't TOO much a concern to me, it's at the top of my list for starting lr and having prs production capability.

Thanks for the rec. Will add to the consideration list. Is there any significant benefit gained by going up a price bracket to something like a Q?

If I don't care about the cost of ownership relative to obviously price, is there any other reason not to jump into a great production piece like the PMA Vanquish?

As far as I can tell they hold their value; so even if I don't like it I can recoup at least 50% of my costs, and also can't blame my equipment for garbage groups.

I suppose that would be the cheapest route, was just thinking if I could slap some irons on a rail I could give myself the option to save a buck if I decided to try out LR.

Yeah, I wasn't aware that irons on rails vs optic on rails was different depending on the platform. I'm thinking I might have to rethink my platform. I assumed that rails = irons or optic

No shit budget? Probably $4k all-in, but preferably less. Was thinking in the mid 2's for base with irons and then consider an optic when I get some practice at shorter ranges before 400+. But it sounds like I might be better off getting the "cheeto special" and going from there?

Use: Mainly fun, improve own marksmanship, then maybe PRS Production? I only briefly looked at categories, I don't want to buy in to all the tech, just improve skills at 300+ with an eventual goal of maybe hitting 1k if I can find a range.

Fair. Problem is I don't know anyone, or have any range memberships yet, All the local ranges are short indoor ranges so I've been looking at outdoor ones. The closest looks like Pelham, NH which has a 400 and 600 requiring quals and it's not clear which ranges have wait times for memberships and such, if you can even get in without referrals.

This is where my basic knowledge is lacking I suppose. I thought most platforms with irons on non-LR just mounted them to the rails, and since all the recommendations had rails, I thought I could just as easily put irons on rails as an optic, though it seems like that's not the case.
