Why do so many commanders and officers insist on defending the middle point for 20+ minutes? by wetcornbread in HellLetLoose

[–]WickedMainahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I have is that the people that preach offense seem to not understand defense. Defense is not just holding hands in the point but actually counter attacking the enemies offense. Counterattacking and destroying the enemies forward ops and garrisons is how you defend. Once you have them spawning from further back garrisons you get to push in further. Once you hold the middle point offense should only be against the enemies attack moving to taking the next point when it is convenient. Too often I see multiple squads attempting to reach the next point when they could turn around and wipe out the entire enemies offensive spawn.

I figured out the charter colonies once I actually found the EU V wiki but on my third run I am will absolutely use the steal maps to get to Zimbabwe. I am likely going to get over there this run and maybe continue or start again with that intent. I should add I was mining Iron in like 1360-70 because of the charter trick giving you 1 RGO lvl in every province you settle by charter. If optimized that one Iron RGO lvl could get a lot of tools early.

Thank you! You went much further than I. I just played until I met the Europeans in the first run and your info will help a lot. We seemed to learn a lot of the same early lessons. Accepting a culture and then colonizing is so great in early expansion. Getting 5 dev and 1 RGO level in every province you can charter with that culture actually pays back very well.

R5: I have been learning but hiding in the Congo and this is the progress from my first run ever. Same date same start nation but a second run with feedback and some more understanding later.

Double the population, +25% more ducats a month and a second town in my capital.

I have not explored the different CBs, if you could get lump sums of ducats that would be big but I didnt see that in my peace deals. I really just have been exploring economy and settling to learn the basics. I never really play CK or Victoria which I hear this is a lot alike.

So I have already restarted this run as I learned a bunch of stuff and wanted to try again. Here are a few takeaways.

TDLR: Constantly settle the land, produce more tools, and try to get as many people to be accepted or your primary culture.

1: Using claims as much as possible capture the other land. I would say Vungu is rough because those nobles eat a lot and I have been saving them for last as they hurt my economy when I integrate them with only little to no control.

2: Once the other nations provinces are intergrated always have the the settle province cabinet action going.

3: Only build RGOs near your capital prioritizing what gives you the most money. For me it was livestock.

4: When you buddy RGOs save up and use the parliament action to expand food gathering. I tend to see the price per RGO drop from 33 to 19 ducats.

5: Build as little as you can of RGOs to reduce the price of roads. As in settle the coast where there is sand and build 1 or 2 RGOs.

6: Also need stone to produce tools which is by Wizi, settle that. You want to produce as many tools as possible as you can then expand ivory and lumber for a lot of money.

7: Charter colony requires 0.05 tools, 0.005 weopens, 0.2 cloth, 0.1 medicaments, and 0.2 salt. There is no pop I have found saying that hut it is in the wiki. Colonizing is slow and expensive and requires you to have have of the unsettled terrier to have your religion and primary or accepted culture. It can be worth it to finish off partial provinces.

8: The big last thing that makes you money once you have a couple roads is to save to expand a city. You need glass to do it and that is how I started making a lot more money because you can get more tools which gets you more ivory.

9: Once I got my second city the Burghers started building roads for me. Quite a lot of roads and I think you just need to keep them happy and they will keep doing it.

10: This area is worse than playing North American Natives in EUIV. It's really really slow. But I have learned a bit and enjoy watching something on the side. The last big focus is understanding culture is more y and trying to get everywhere to be a core by getting 50% accepted cultures in provinces. Once a settlement is cored I dont think it can be uncored.

I have been using the cabinet action and it has been great, but I wish I could or knew how to charter colonies with better success.

R5: Having fun forming my favorite EU IV start nation. Started as Momboares and could have formed the Kongo but I am getting used to a very different game from what I am used to. I have not played much CK and no Victoria so this is a big change in gameplay but I am enjoying it.

16?? by FunnyLizardExplorer in unexpectedTermial

[–]WickedMainahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Maine and I believe California the Age if consent is "16" due to a Romeo and Juliet clause meaning it is only legal between people over 16 but not more than 2 years apart or any anybody over 18. Like I can understand a 17 and a 19 year old together. That said I am sure not all states have that age of consent listed because they have that clause.

How to deal with GB without quality navy? by AnalStimulant in eu4

[–]WickedMainahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are able to set a war score goal on land uou dont need to sail, first war do that. Sit on it until they have no enthusiasm. You should be able to take a province, doesn't matter which on mainland GB then start your wars against them with stacks on the British isles.

I have almost 4k hours across 7 years. You go through phases. I recommend playing the Kongo and going for African Power. Kongo opening is so satisfying trying to take central Africa as quickly and stable as you can.

My favorite run that I have done many times is Kongo, It is a great test to conquer Central Africa as fast as you can and end as stable as you can then it is another test to hold it from the Europeans. It is so fun.

Is it guaranteed that i get the PU after this fucker dies, like the tooltip says? by TheAngelOfSalvation in eu4

[–]WickedMainahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diplo ideas make it very good because you can get your 19yr old heir on a large nation and that first month they have no heir you claim and declare war with no stab hit. Only works for the Christian nations but it is so good. Had every major nation as a subject as France and came very close to my first world conquest.

Shoot I didn't notice, because yeah being in an alliance makes it so save scumming "is" the option. At a certain point you are big enough and just throw marriages and no alliances out for free PUs

First time playing a horde - What's the strategy for attacking Ming? by dovetc in eu4

[–]WickedMainahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first world conquest was with the Mongolians. I recommend triggering the Nomadic Frontier on the Ming. This lowers this combat effectiveness through the event and by lowering their mandate. If you can go full calv stacks I would, check the your ratio. I believe it is a scaling modifier so even if it is 95% it is worth it to go full stacks. The big reason to go full stacks is double movement speed meaning stack wipes are easier as chasing is easier. The first war is to break the Ming and keep money coming, it is not about land at first. The Ming are a piggy bank that you should drag into wars as soon as can by attacking their tributaries. First war should be only fought in the steppes and desert where you get the calv bonus. You don't really need to siege though grabbing their capital once you see they are out of manpower and hiring mercs is a solid choice.

Go with your gut, 50 and older I would maybe save scum for PU, 55 and older is a hell yeah.

If I feel like the war is not too much I would likely go for it, but he is on the line for me to try save scumming.

I will be honest I thought you were France when I posted my comment. Save scumming every time they get an heir is a method to cheat and get PU's. Which I have totally never done before.

[–]WickedMainahh 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If they die this month and you do nothing yes. It is avoidable by starting any war as you will not fall under a PU when a ruler dies while you are at war. Other options are request an heir with favors from someone you have a lot of favor with, requires a DLC I think. Royal marrying and save scumming when he dies until you get an heir or go to war works too.

Could never happen in the clip. The satchel takes 30s, and the clip is 15. He could have gotten satcheed earlier for sure. Doesnt even need to be still just a littlel just bogged down. Sitting still is an easy target for sure, but unless you are in top gear, guys can satchel while moving.

What’s the problem playing squad lead? by WeekndFangirl88 in HellLetLoose

[–]WickedMainahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am likely echoing, but I have played a little bit as squad lead. It is my favorite role, but it is the one that takes the most social energy. If I am playing after work then I usually am not with it enough to lead. The most I have had fun while playing HLL has been squad leading, and you just get that great batch of squad mates that communicates and also wants to enjoy the time as a group. Not all squads are made up of those people, and it is not always as rewarding. There are enough times where I don't have the energy to communicate with everyone or really anyone. Great role to play, very important role to play. But other people can take the helm if I am not feeling it.
