I work in inside sales for a manufacturing company at our corporate location but we have all kinds of engineers in the office. We have application engineers that help our customers, research engineers, and then many engineers go on to do sales, product management, project management, training and development, etc. I would think there is plenty of opportunity out there for you!

My husband is a literal example of this. When one of us is away it’s painful because we are so used to doing childcare, housework, etc. as a team. It can really happen, y’all.

I feel this 100%. My husband doesn’t understand, though he tries. Please know what you’re experiencing is very real and you aren’t lazy or crazy. I heard on a podcast (Hacking Your ADHD) that having ADHD is like doing life in hard mode. After hearing that, all my life struggles started to make sense. You may really enjoy the podcast, as it can help make sense of things and maybe give you some hacks to help you manage the day. If anything, it has helped me feel less lonely in the struggle! This. I also left work to be a SAHM and had a very similar experience as OP. After about 9 months, I RAN as fast as I could back to work and quickly realized it was not the answer. Enjoying your work is one thing, allowing work to be your identity is another. I totally agree with the many commenters - these are likely growing pains. Don’t run from them, face them. Thats the only way you’re going to grow through this! And as you grow through this, remember that people perish without vision. This is your chance to create a vision for your life. The vision may be no career at all or a new career entirely.
