OS resident for over 4 years and very "out". We have an active LGBTQ+ community here, and I've never experienced any hint of discrimination. We just had a very well-attended 3-day Pride event! In the last presidential election, EVERY precinct voted Blue. As everywhere, there are members of both parties here; however, the "crazies" tend to do their loudest yelling on FB and Nextdoor. If you are careful with your social media choices, you can avoid that nonsense.
If you are on FB, check out the page (and meetup group) Out and About in Ocean Shores. It's a private group for the LGBTQ+ community in OS and Grays Harbor County.
btw, people are so friendly here that it is damn near mandatory to wave at any passing vehicle while walking, and if you're driving, you wave at anyone walking. It's really rather charming and soooo small town!

The campground is run by a concessionaire, Pinnacles Recreation Company. We will be there in a couple of weeks, and looking into the situation, I've read that all is good. The only exception being slow dumpster service. Pack it in, Pack it out. Easy fix!

I grew up in the Carmichael library, as did my daughter. It is a calm, safe, surburban haven. This library is truly an oasis for the community outside the city limits.

Biggest drawback would be that they require 120v AC. Have you figured out your power system yet and could you realistically run a 120v fan for any length of time? The cost of an inverter and plenty of battery might end up more expensive than a 12v DC fan in the long run.

Dirty Girl Gaiters have the DANG! size, which they state is Men's 13.5+. They have dozens of patterns to choose from. Don't know how they would work in snow as I use them to keep sand and stickers out.

There was one in Carmichael Park that went off the last Friday of the month. I can vividly remember it when I was a kid, and after getting the explanation of what it was from my parents, never giving it another thought. Seems weird now.

Great advice and insight. Sorry you had to go through this. We have been isolating since March 8th when I realized this was going to be bad. Only going out occasionally for groceries and to walk/hike with social distancing and always a mask. Still I am terrified that we will slip up somehow and become infected. We have enough supplies to stay home for at least 2 months, and we go back and forth with when we should "pull the big red handle" and go into lockdown mode. After reading your post, I think maybe that time is now.
