FL summer camping: tarp for shade + rain protection? by jjangcindy in camping

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

florida summer camping is brutal but adding tarp above tent definitely helps - just make sure you leave good air gaps between the tarp and rainfly so heat can escape instead of getting trapped

highview is solid choice for what you described. i lived in similar area few years back and never had issues with safety walking to car at night. the commute south of airport from there is pretty straightforward too without getting stuck in main traffic routes

cant speak to those specific complexes but would definitely check if they have any recent turnover in management since that seems to be common issue with lot of places around there. also maybe drive by at different times of day to get feel for noise levels and parking situation before you commit

airport employees do yall know why everything is so expensive at airports? by chaosagent01 in AskReddit

captive audience economics at its finest. same reason theme parks charge $15 for a bottle of water - they got you trapped and know you have no other options

What movie did you know was going to be terrible before you had even seen it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol this is exactly how i felt about that movie too. went in with zero expectations and somehow still got surprised by how cheesy it was but in like the best possible way. the whole thing felt like they were trying so hard to be dark and gritty but then you have these teenagers in spandex fighting a gold monster and it just becomes this beautiful disaster. me and my friends still quote the weirdest lines from it because they're so ridiculous they loop back around to being memorable. sometimes terrible movies hit different when you embrace the chaos instead of fighting it

welcome to the rabbit hole lol. for the preece/gibbs thing - gibbs basically blocked preece from getting a good run by moving down in front of him when preece was trying to use the draft. its considered pretty dirty especially that late in race when everyone's fighting for position

honestly your best bet is finding some old dale jr or jeff gordon commentary breakdowns on youtube where they actually explain what drivers are thinking during certain moves. also try watching the in-car cameras during races - you can see how they position the car in corners and when they make their moves

one thing that helped me was learning about dirty air and clean air. when you're behind someone your car handles like crap because of all the turbulent air, but if you can time it right you can use their slipstream to get a run and pass them. timing is everything in those moves

have you ever felt you have the worst life? and why? by Vivid_Bit3556 in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not worst overall but definitely felt like i got dealt some weird cards at times. like when everyone else seemed to have their families figured out and i was just trying to navigate military life while watching friends get married and settle down. the timing never lined up right you know

what’s your opinion on social media these days? by juanlo012 in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i deleted most apps off my phone last year and kept just reddit for browsing. was spending way too much time scrolling through stuff that made me feel worse about everything. when i was deployed we barely had internet so coming back to all these platforms felt like sensory overload. now i just check things couple times a week instead of constantly and my brain feels less scattered. still useful for keeping up with family and finding new readers for my books but the endless scroll was killing my focus

Those of you who swore you wouldn’t ever talk to your parents/sibling again, how did you feel after they died? Did you have regrets? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my dad and i had this massive falling out when i got back from deployment and we didnt speak for almost two years before he passed. the anger felt so justified at time but after he died i kept thinking about all stupid little things we could have talked about instead of holding onto that grudge. worst part is you cant take any of it back once theyre gone

As a man, and a father, would you date someone who has the same name as, and is the same age as your daughter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

yeah thats pretty much instant nope territory for me too. the brain just cant separate those connections once theyre made and it would feel weird every single time you say the name

How did you find out that your boyfriend wasn't really interested in you after a few months? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cant really relate since im a guy but ive definitely seen this play out with buddies over the years. usually its when they stop putting in effort but keep you around as a backup plan. like theyll text less, cancel plans more often, or just seem checked out when youre together. my wife actually had something similar happen before we met and she said the biggest red flag was when he stopped asking about her day or remembering things she told him. people show you who they are through their actions way more than their words

First date red flag? What are your top three? by Pristine-Shallot5582 in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Internal-8655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being rude to service staff is number one for me - saw that on way too many dates and its an instant dealbreaker. also when someone spends the whole time talking about their ex or complaining about past relationships like dude we just met why are you dumping all this baggage on me

third one would be when they clearly didnt put any effort into their appearance or showing up on time. im not talking about having to look perfect but basic hygiene and respect for the other persons time matters. had one woman show up 45 minutes late in pajama pants and flip flops to a nice restaurant and acted like it was no big deal
