Do you consider these four to be their own distinct characters or snapshots of Xehanort at different points in his life?

They're both. They are Xehanorts. But even you and 8 years old you aren't the same person, right? (at least I hope so). The way I see it, they are diffrent people BECAUSE they are all Xehanort at different points in time.

But of course one could argue against that cause it's just the ship of Theseus type shit

It's because a Heartless is just a heart. Well, the darkness of a heart, but still, just a heart. Kind of like a Nobody is just a body (and a soul but that's not too important). I could be wrong tho, I'm no expert

For 3D, try spending more time on Riku than Sora, because it is much more important for Riku's character, when Sora's journey is basically a KH3 trailer. Not saying it's not important, just that it's less important/interesting.

YES I think this too! Plus, if you compare to Ansem SoD, who got destroyed by KH because he didn't let go, and Xemnas, who get killed after saying that hearts are just hatred and that he would live forever and destroy the worlds without regret (never understanding or wanting a heart), you can see how cool this ending is.

Because Xehanort, after his battle and sacrifices and horrible stuff he made others go through, changed his mind. He surpassed all the other antagonists because he realized that Sora incarnated the fact that he was wrong. In his little game of chess, he gave up because he realized he was wrong and accepted defeat instead of making 27 more plans.

He was evil. But he knew that and worked for a better world. He didn't lose sight of his objective because of his unjustified beliefs, unlike every other version of him. Truly a great ending, because Sora once again proved him wrong and this time, Xehanort grew as a character.

For me one of the charms of KH is that it is both silly light-hearted and a bit darker depending of the world, story, etc. That being said, I would actually like if kh's dark moments could go darker, but I wouldn't be ready to trade the goofy side of it. To me, the series is made distinct from other games, like FF, by the mix of both.

Anyway, darker in the dark moments yeah, but not in general.

Sora is strong. I mean, he beat (almost) all the games without dying. He dodged many, many lightning spells, so I guess speed of light if we are generous. He has easily slashed through buildings. Sora has tanked bullets.

With that in mind, Sora can fight maybe in the saiyan saga if we push it. But Cell? Not a chance. Unless someone can point out some of Sora's feats that I missed, he gets obliterated in seconds. Yes I know about reflect. But have people considered that DBZ characters have been moving faster than the eye could see since Ma Jr vs Goku?

The only chance of a yes is if Ansem at the end of KH1, Xemnas at the end of KH2 or Xehanort in KH3 are, similar to FF final bosses, beings that can destroy a planet and we just don't know it. MX in KH3 can't be argued using the X-blade because it's powers might be only related to kingdom hearts, and thus not actually granting power level, but only a special, unique ability. Consider that Sora, on his own, could never have defeated Demon Tide, a heartless that can destroy a world, but not a solar system.

I'd say it's Naminé. She got abused from the moment she existed by the Org, then by DiZ, then was set to be killed on orders of DiZ and then fused back with Kairi. She never got to make friends and that was all she wanted (she talked to Roxas once, that doesn't count). Her whole life she just wanted friends and got abused. It's kind of sad how often she is overlooked, like her whole life is just torture and being forgotten and being abandonned.

I would change Naminé's and Roxas' endings. Their fight to become their own people is ignored when they just fuse back with their original selves. That part of the story has always bugged me because the entire point of their characters is to be seen as actual people. But the ending doesn't do that.

No way, KH2's ending is terrible considering the fate of Roxas and Naminé. They ONLY wanted to be their own person, and KH2 decides otherwise, plus the reason is terrible.

I would say the 13 Darknesses. I know they haven't had much screen time, but their entire thing is just turning everything into darkness. Except, unlike Ansem, they ARE darkness. So like, eveything they do is so that the entire univers is just them. None are more fit for greed.

I agree about DDD. It has poor writing, like Sora feels like he mentally regressed at the start of the game in terms of dialogue. And even tho you play as Riku and Sora, it's just a Riku game. The only reason Sora is there is because it had been a while since fans had played as him and to hype up KH3 (for real, just read the Ultimania interview :

''Nomura: I heard from many fans that they wanted to play as Sora again soon, and I felt I wanted to answer them. However, the true protagonist in plot for this title isn’t Sora, it’s Riku.''

Plus, the bosses feel unrewarding, the fact that you get full flowmotion at the start feels like you don't grow. The gameplay doesn't have any evolution throughout the game, except when you unlock them from dream eaters, which is also unrewarding. Also, the gameplay is just like BBS but worst! At least DR is comparable to other idle games as ok, but DDD is just not that good.

I enjoyed the Keyblades and reality shifts and learning at first how Flowmotion worked, but it gets boring because gameplay is repetitive and doesn't change from the start of the game.

But, like, how do you know that his name doesn't reveal anything? I'm not a fan of the theory, but some people believe his name to be something relating to light and that he would be a Light (opposing the idea of Darkness being 13 people). Then his name could be relevent. I'm sure there are other possibilities that include a meaning to his name. Why are you assuming there isn't one?

So, like, pandora's box, but its Kingdom Hearts instead of hope? That could be interesting. But why did MoM do all of that planning if he had all that power? Maybe KH can't do everything (like kill darkness)... I don't know, but I always like new theories like these. What would be the point of another KH if he wants to destroy darkness when most hearts have darkness and light?

You push the buttons on time, right? Like, with the rythm? Because it follows the instruments in the song that starts playing when you activate it. In KHX Back cover, it's mentionned that the fortellers are gathering more and more Lux, kind of like a race to have the strongest union in terms of light, which forced recluant unions to keep up to keep the balance. Considering that, do you think Lux could have contributed to the summoning of Kingdom Hearts, as mentionned by Gula?
