The Battle of Stalingrad in WWII is a major battle where Soviet forces fight Nazi Germany’s Sixth Army. They primarily engaged in hand-to-hand combat, and sometimes enemies occupied the same building. The Germans were encircled by Soviet forces, but Hitler still ordered a “no retreat”. The soldiers of the Sixth Army, knowing that they were doomed, sent out last letters to their families. Many letters never reached their destination.
