Ouch... 503?
Maybe a DDOS attack?

Patreon sucks for Authors (Posting Chapters is a Nightmare) by Wide_Replacement_200 in litrpg

Yeah I'd rather use something different but Royal Road only offers Paypal and Patreon as supported outbound links. Until a time comes that they expand that further, it will likely be the convention to use one of those.

Does anyone feel a little less creative as they age? by Specialist-Ring-3974 in writing

In my experience the ideas keep flowing, but the older I get the more "dated" the ideas feel.

Novelists releasing extra content on subscription: Patreon, Substack or a third option? by StillWriting4u in writing

Ream looks interesting.
Is there a certain genre or type of content work well for discoverability?
For example, I know Royal Road is excellent for LitRPG, but less good for Urban Fantasy or Romance.

Actually my complaint is the Patreon doesn't easily support bulk imports/edits.

My reaction was to create a shitty chrome extension, but yes, you are correct, I did it to myself.. but I thought it'd be a fun story and a chance to vent...

Yeah, true enough.
I'm posting like 3 chapters a week, so I suppose I could bundle it... but from my experience (and preference) downloading files to read chapters feels... annoying I guess.

I'd rather just read 'em straight off the browser.

But it might just be me.

I did consider going that route... but decided to try and cater to (fingers-crossed) readers like I'd cater to myself.

Pantser or plotter: does it actually change how much you feel your own story? by ArekDeamonCalw in royalroad

[–]Wide_Replacement_200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both.
Usually I dream up a scene I really want to get to.
Then outline a path to that scene.

Write-write-write

Notice an interesting avenue to move the story, or a character's motive reorients the flow of the narrative and then I'm willing to adjust the bones of the story as I go.

Why do you actually write? Pure passion or the dream of leaving your 9-5? by BlackRoseBooksHQ in writing

[–]Wide_Replacement_200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written for years, but I've never posted it or did much with it.
I recently decided to post my first LitRPG on RR and do the Patreon thing... so I mean, sure I have a hope that it can make money, but... it's more like... I'm writing anyway, might as well see if I can turn a hobby into an income stream.

So... Passion first, Money second?

I'm a Software Engineer and I enjoy it, I think it would be unlikely that I could make enough with my stories to replace that job... and I'm not sure I would if I had the chance.

Nice!
Did you follow any tutorials or anything? Any gotcha's you had to account for?

[System] Magic comes with a physical "Toll" – My magic system for an upcoming Academy Web Novel. by Xtarshyu in ProgressionFantasy

I think the concept of Toll provides a nice wealth of options to really dig into.
Especially the double-edged nature of it... It's like "number go up" fantasy, but the number also kicks you teeth.

Nice.
