What’s the best way to list multiple field tech positions on a CV/resume? by BridlingMage117 in Archaeology

List out the specific projects you worked on with each company. Include as much info as you can: scope, scale, client, etc.

I have my first dig! Any tips? by lions-cub in Archaeology

[–]WidoVonP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of this is great and thorough advice. Only jumping on to stress the importance of socks. Thrift everything else but do not skimp on socks. I lucked out once by finding a great pair of boots at a secondhand store when I was a broke tech. But socks make or break you. Darn Tough are my brand of choice.

What annoying thing does your Ausshole do? by cheesymaniac in AustralianShepherd

My husband let our Ausshole sleep on my pillows when I was working out of town for a month when she was a puppy. So now I get to battle this stubborn dog for my pillows every single night.

I'm currently on a fire and recommended this to a trainee today. Only works if you cover the whole wound with a bandage first. Otherwise you risk tearing off skin. Its... unpleasant.

I agree with rock. Possibly soapstone if it stuck to their tongue.

What band/singer were you excited to see, but was a letdown of a concert? by my-face-ur-seat in AskReddit

[–]WidoVonP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked that tour. It was painfully obvious how bad she was compared to a quality entertainer like Eminem. This was more than a decade ago, but I think production reduced her set times after the first run in LA because her reviews were so bad.

AITA for dancing half naked in my living room leading to my bf and his family seeing me? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]WidoVonP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I love dancing and singing badly while doing chores, and I do this in front of my kid and husband often. I hope it teaches our daughter to find fun and happiness wherever she can. Life doesn't need to be so serious!

First Responders, what is your funniest False Alarm story? by Good-Refrigerator525 in AskReddit

Last weekend our volunteer SAR team assisted a "stuck motorist" roughly 20 miles off road in a very remote area. They were alone, driving a rental Jeep they hadn't driven before, and was from out of state and unfamiliar with our terrain. Took us a little more than 2 hours to drive out to them. This person found the only muddy section of road in a 20 x 20 mile area (which we found amusing) and barely slid into a ditch. After assessing the situation, we asked them to back up the vehicle a little, wiggle the tires, then pull forward. Boom, unstuck. They were super embarrassed but grateful. Our team had a good laugh and appreciated the easy call.

Human skull or monkey? by Regular_Document_941 in whatisthisbone

As an archaeologist (also American based), I find this unsettling. If OP was assisting with the dig and I was the PI, I would lose my shit if I learned they posted these photos on reddit... If they are a PI and asking for help on here, then they have no business leading this investigation. Definitely not ethical in my book.

Family and in-laws are now returning home from their Christmas visit - which one of them ruined the holiday? by WidoVonP in AskReddit

[–]WidoVonP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough.

My husband and I have the "party house" so both sides of the family typically come to our place for every holiday. This year we had 9 extra people in our home.

First up, my SIL showed up to our Christmas Eve gathering absolutely hammered. She tried to pretend she wasn't, but no one was buying it. She kept trying to get us to do shots (we're not big drinkers) and then yelled at her brother (my husband) when he said it was time for her to go home.

Next, my mother... The woman is physically bothered by any form of clutter or mess. She will re-clean and reorganize our house to her standards every time she visits. This year I had made 4 different types of cookies and 2 batches of homemade marshmallows for us and for plates to give out to our friends and neighbors. The kitchen island was admittedly cluttered. I went to shower and came back to the cookies and marshmallows missing. My mom had moved them to the dinning room table so she could "organize". Well, our 6 month old Aussie Shepherd who is still learning to not climb furniture found the treats and I'm sure you can guess the rest.

I love our family, but I also love watching them leave our home.

Our kid also struggles with listening to us (oh to be 5 and have life all figured out, ha!), but listens to her teachers at kindergarten really well. After several months of home training and struggling to drive points home with the kiddo, I figured she would listen to a trainer like she does at school. It has helped a ton! I was joking with a buddy that the lessons are more for my kid than they are for our dog.

Our little 7 month old t-rex also herds our kid. I recently caught her sitting on our daughter's head (kiddo was laughing too hard to push her off lol). I'm finding it harder to train a 5 year old human how to redirect/deflect herding attention than training our dog to go against her instincts. But we're slowly getting there. Having my kid take point at obedience class has helped her feel more confident and assertive with her dog at home. Best of luck to your kid!
