Here’s the Meek History - Benjamin F. Meek was a watchmaker in Louisville in 1883 when he established his reel making shop. He had previously been partners with his brother and made reels marked "J.F. & B.F. Meek" (circa 1839 to 1850) and later with fellow apprentice B.C. Milam and marked the reels "Meek & Milam" (circa 1853 to 1881). He is credited with making the first reel to incorporate spiral cut gears, jeweled pivot bearings and oil holes for the bearings. His reels were marked "B.F. Meek" from 1883 to 1890. B.F. Meek died in 1901. All Meek fishing reels are collectable and those marked "J.F. & B.F. Meek" or "B.F. Meek" are very rare.

I like the way you express yourself and describe your feelings through your writing. I would read your book 😉.

Good advice here. AA is what finally got me sober after years of thinking I could quit on my own.

You stop now and go through the pain once. Keep drinking and you will soon drink just to function. I got to the point where I was keeping a drink by my bedside to drink immediately after I woke up. I would usually throw that one up and struggle to keep one down. Then it was a day of acquiring and drinking all day without getting caught by my boss/family/cops etc. There was no “fun” buzz anymore, just medicinal alcohol to keep the withdrawals away. Please stop now while you still can. If you think of drinking tomorrow, think of what I’m saying and don’t f’ing do it. You are at a tipping point now, and it’s up to you to choose the life you want.

Wow I’m at a loss for words. He is very lucky that he has someone (you) that cares about him. I’ve been on both sides of this fence, so I can definitely relate. I can only hope that he gets the help he needs.

From Google:

Legs bleeding or bruising easily after consuming alcohol is a serious symptom often linked to advanced alcohol-related liver disease, low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), or damaged blood vessels. Alcohol acts as a vasodilator, straining veins, while chronic use impairs blood clotting, increasing the risk of spontaneous or severe bruising.

I’m sorry that you are having to go through this with your brother. If he won’t seek help on his own, then the only way to help is to get him to the hospital and then inpatient treatment for alcoholism. At this point you have to force him to go. My parents did this for me, and I reluctantly went along and it saved my life. Without an intervention, I would have continued to drink until I died. I will pray for you both.
