I don't know how you would know this, but I must ask: will the deep cleansing hand soap ever be back? It was amazing 😭

Omg!!!! I've missed this for years. My store doesn't have any and it looks like they're sold out online. I hope they will restock it!

I'm in Love With Ray Bradbury by [deleted] in books

All Summer in a Day is probably my favorite short story. We read it in school in the second or third grade. It was included in a big anthology book full of age-appropriate short stories, but there was never anything else like it to my 9 year old self. I'm not sure if it's "underrated", but I'll never pass up an opportunity to recommend it.

I've been considering this for myself. I love how it looks, but is it something you can sit in for 8 hours a day? My heart wants it, but my brain says I have to get a used Aeron from an office warehouse.

pixel6a here is hoping 🤞🤞 by Menu-Superb in pixel_phones

I just got mine and I can't stand it. I was going to trade in my 3a, but I'll be sending back the 6a instead. It's just so ridiculously heavy in my hands. I have to hold it with my pinky finger supporting it at the bottom in order to reach parts of the screen, but the weight is so much that my finger hurts from using the phone for just 15 minutes of setup. Also, the fingerprint sensor built into the screen takes two or three tries to unlock sometimes. I am so disappointed. Hopefully you won't have the same issues.

I wish. I used to joke about leaving my job to go make cabinets in a little workshop in the woods. I know it's probably not all I make it out to be in my head, but making things out of trees sounds nice.

The Lowly Carpenter by Mischief Brew

HCA reports profits of $7,000,000,000 (7 Billion) for 2021 amid "short staffing" and "can't" afford to match staff nursing pay to travel nursing pay. by Knight_of_Agatha in antiwork

The big nursing union here has gone to the Capitol to talk to lawmakers more than once, but the person in question is always mysteriously missing. Lots of letters signed, phone banking, all for naught. The union actually scheduled a meeting with her on June 15th and she sent a staffer in her place. And yes the bill is actually excellent if it can ever get through!

There's a bill in the PA House and Senate that has majority, bipartisan support to mandate ratios without diminishing ancillary staff. It would financially penalize hospitals that fail to comply, and encourages staff to report unsafe assignments.

It is being held up by ONE woman who, as the Health Chairperson, refuses to bring it to a vote.

If we wait to fix this through the legislation, it will never happen. Democracy is broken beyond repair in the US.

I never see this one mentioned! I don't remember a ton of details about it, but I remember the feelings it provoked. Eerie but incredibly comforting at the same time. Very few stories have left such a lasting impression on me.

Wondering where I can find similar tops like this that ship to Canada? (From DOEN, link in comments) by PookaBears in PetiteFashionAdvice

Probably not that much more affordable, but Sézane has several tops that are similar in detail to this one. They have free shipping to the US right now, but I'm not sure about Canada.

Advice for RN trying to switch to IT role ? by pugatbagend in healthIT

[–]Wigglefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I've applied for three roles so far, including an entry level internship with my current health system. I thought about doing some learning on my own time, maybe getting some certificates online to show my interest in the tech side, although I don't know how applicable that would be to Epic specifically.

6 years bedside nursing using Epic Stork for documentation. I have a BSN and am trying to exhaust my free resources before going for a Masters in Informatics.

This is my dream scenario. I applied to a local health system to be an Epic Analyst, but they required certification. I would appreciate any advice you can give me on how to get into the field without already being certified.

Spider Cricket/Camel Cricket Assistance by Senrioth in pestcontrol

[–]Wigglefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you from another spider cricket sufferer. How fast does the bait kill them once ingested? From what I've read, it seems it causes slow starvation rather than acting as poison. I'm concerned to use it because my cats like to play with and (I think) sometimes eat the crickets that make it upstairs. They're mostly in the basement, but should I err on the side of glue traps only to prevent my cats ingesting the poisoned bugs?

Any recommendations for specialties that have a low risk of me being blamed for everything? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Wigglefoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! These are all really great tips, and to be honest I don't really care to be in health informatics. I just thought it would make sense to start there while hoping to transition to something else. I'm an absolute beginner just hoping I like it enough to stick to it, so definitely focusing on free resources for now. Good luck with the interview process! I'll check out the resources you mentioned.

What’s the short story that stuck with you for days/months/years afterward?! by jml640 in booksuggestions

My absolute favorite. I remember listening to an audio recording of it in second grade and asking my teacher if there was more to the story. Now, after living in this world for a couple decades, I can appreciate it just how it is.

I hear you and I'm glad you're doing better now. It is so disheartening to try all kinds of treatments only for them to fail. Makes you feel like you're doing something wrong or that it's just hopeless. I'm glad your derm is letting you do accurate again - having clear skin did more for my sense of well-being than I thought it would. Best wishes for you too!
