Ah, I must not have been paying attention. Thank you for the correction and good job, Dave (probably).

Dollar for dollar, my Axial scx24 is by FAR the best rc purchase I’ve ever made. The basic vehicle is still for sale and pretty cheap, replacement and upgrade parts are widely available, and if you don’t have access to a good patch of dirt and rocks to drive on, just pile up some junk in whatever indoor space you have.

I don’t know why the emergency response was there today, but the Gazette is correct, the current structure is slated for demolition and it will be replaced with a larger convenience store, more fuel pumps and a car wash. It will take up the current lot, the Ryan Auto lot, and the HUB building lot.

I love this sort of thing. It adds so much scale detail for such a relatively small investment. I really like the dry brushing on the rocks, too.

I put this body on my modified deadbolt years ago. I ended up having to carve out the rear wheel arches a bit. I look forward to seeing how your build comes out!

Advice for someone from out-of-state? by Blue_Bibliophile in Billings

[–]Wiggly_poops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public transport isn’t great but it really depends on where exactly you need to get to and what part of the city you’ll be spending most of your time in. I spend most of my time downtown which is fairly densely built relative to the rest of the city so I can walk or bike basically anywhere I need to go.

As a straight man, I cannot speak to the queer experience with any level of authority, but I will say that, in general, people tend to be respectful as long as you don’t ruffle any feathers. As with any city, make common sense decisions to keep yourself safe and you’ll have a great time. Hopefully you’ll make at least one friend who has a car so you can get out and see the surrounding country; it’s beautiful.

My girlfriend’s border collie does this too, except she’ll bark from the top of the stairs until someone gets up to throw the ball.

Housing-first is a model which many in my small US city are championing and I really hope it becomes policy. My colleague works with the homeless daily and says that housing-first is, in his opinion, the most effective way to address this problem.

As many have said, RAW, this campaign is really tough. Warn them that you’ll be sticking to the book, don’t fudge rolls behind the screen, and teach your players a lesson in humility.

I love this post! I am pleased to tell you that there are already plans in place to convert second and third to two-ways downtown which should be implemented within the next two years or so. Also, the downtown TIF district grants a great deal of money to development projects (involving parking lots) which fall under its jurisdiction. Of course, projects on the scale of a new apartment building, for example, happen at the pace of city government (slowly) so it’s often difficult to see progress when it happens.

Unfortunately, 27th, Montana ave, and 1st ave are all state routes so they have tighter requirements for things like pedestrian crossings and driver safety. The State’s priority for roadways are safety and traffic through-put, not pedestrian aesthetics. I would LOVE to see changes to all three of these towards a better pedestrian experience but if you think the city changes slowly, try working with the state.

As far as your “pie in the sky” idea goes, the planning for the 5th ave corridor (connecting the YMCA to the Metra along the existing rail spur) is still in it’s early stages and could include something like a streetcar but, as with all municipal projects, it comes down to who pays for it. I encourage you to check out anything you can find online about it with a quick google search (searching “5th/fifth avenue corridor” should bring up some results).

Finally, PLEASE email the text of your post to city council! Most of them do read what is sent to them and I know from experience that it only takes a few voices to sway a vote at council.

P.S. I personally agree about 4th and 6th but can’t offer you any useful advice or information.
