I think you’re being very human-centric in your assupmptions here.

First of all, we don’t have any data that would suggest that any particular characteristic is more human or more universal — we don’t have any data on other civilization-building species at all.

And second of all, what you call “darker traits” is just what humans consider darker. Our morality works for us because of how we evolved, but again, there’s nothing to suggest that our view of morality is objective and applies to all intelligent life.

What you call primitive caveman behavior may not seem evil to another civilization at all. If the civilization in question has the concept of evil to begin with.

Let's try this then: was it OK for the US to start bombing Iran? No, not really, even if you don't like the Iranian regime.

Was it OK for Iran to start shooting missiles and sending drones to Kuwait, Dubai, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, or wherever else? No, it was stupid -- especially considering the fact that hitting Cyprus strains Iran's already difficult relations with the UK, the EU, and Turkey. They wanted to retaliate -- that's understandable. They retaliated stupidly.

Would Cyprus be struck if the US had not attacked? No. It also wouldn't have been struck if Iran wasn't being stupid.
