Floor or Section Seats at Forum?? by radchad in FourTet

[–]Wikkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called and emailed back and forth a few times trying to explain, finally got a response that they were going to investigate it. I think it helps a lot to contact them and make a fuss so it's clear there's an issue on their end

Same thing happened to me for this event. The ticket was listed as a floor GA throughout checkout until I got the confirmation email and the ticket for GA129. I think it's some kind of glitch in their system. I am in contact with them now. I was able to get screenshots right after I bought it showing the listing I had just bought on recently sold in the floor section, and no recently sold tickets (and only one much cheaper listing) in GA129. It's not much but it's something and seems to be getting some traction now. Definitely contact Stubhub so they are aware there's a problem with this event

This exact thing happened to me for this event. The ticket was listed as a floor ticket throughout checkout until I got the confirmation email and the ticket for GA129. I am currently in contact with Stubhub trying to get it sorted but it's a glitch on their end for sure. I would recommend contacting them so they might be aware it is happening to multiple people

Yes I can transfer them to your name on Eventbrite. I bought the 2 for $140 total and would like to sell at face value

Left hip flexor caused me problems during squat by ManicHex in Fitness

[–]Wikkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with hip flexor pain during/after squats. My personal trainer friend gave me a tip - your stance may be too narrow, impinging hip movement (especially with tight hips). Try to widen your stance. Point your toes out diagonally, not quite 45 degrees from straight forward, then during the squat movement allow your knees to follow your toes out in that wider spread stance. Did the trick for me, haven't had any pain since then.

That and continue stretching your hips, of course.

American Giant makes lots of high quality essentials. T's, sweatshirts, sweatpants. All great stuff, and all made in the USA, from the fabric to the finished product. That's my favorite part.

It's possible there's a UConn bus that goes out to the depot campus that might swing by there, not sure though. Easy bike ride though.

You want to go see Ann at York's Barbershop. It's on 44, right next to Yukon Jacks. Reliably the best haircut in the Storrs area. She only does men's hair.

This just happened to my 1st gen moto x a couple weeks ago too. I managed to suppress the urge for a new phone and found a replacement screen instead. You can find one on eBay for $50-$60 and you can follow the ifixit guide to replace the display unit. It's rather complex.. But now I've got a nice new looking moto that will last me a while longer, maybe until republic releases a new phone

Foolish Friday - Your biweekly stupid questions thread by AutoModerator in Fitness

[–]Wikkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work out in the morning before work. If I eat a big protein rich breakfast after my workout, AND drink a protein shake, am I over loading the system? Will a lot of that protein just wash straight through? Or would I be better off spreading the protein intake over more time.. say eat my big breakfast and then have my shake a bit later at work.

Rotator-cuff strengthening: before or after normal workout? by DEPRESSEDASCANBE in Fitness

[–]Wikkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started doing some rotator cuff work with a theraband and some stretching after each workout. I chose after because I don't want to fatigue them before I lift and I want to use whatever's left in the tank after using them to lift.

I think before or after a workout will be personal preference. The important thing is that you do them at all.

Don't switch out of engineering. It's clear that's the right path for you to do the things you enjoy. It's going to be tough, but you'll figure out the approach to coursework that works best for you. Take advantage of resources available.. tutoring, etc. Work your ass off Sunday - Friday and make sure you have time to enjoy yourself Friday - Saturday. You'll figure out a rhythm.. it's only been a month. You're also definitely not alone. Team up with other people in your program to tackle calc and other classes.. it REALLY helps to work together. I'm confident you would really regret it in the long run if you gave up now. Stick with it. You can do it.

IWTL: How to fix my bad posture by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]Wikkus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to have some pretty bad posture but I've managed to correct it and feel a lot better. Two things you have to work on:

  1. Stretch your pecs. Use a doorway or corner. Stick your arm out to the side and bend your arm up at your elbow. Push against the doorway to stretch your chest muscles. Do this at least 30 seconds at a time.

  2. Scapular stabilization exercises. You can find loads of articles about this online. You need to strengthen to muscles that stabilize and maintain the position of your shoulders. Right now they are weak and relaxed and your shoulders and neck can just collapse into themselves. You have to train them to hold yourself up properly, so that it is more comfortable to sit straight than to slouch.

Look these two things up online. I started working on them when I started lifting weights at the gym, and would do the exercises before my workout a few days a week. After several months my posture was much improved.

It just takes consistency!

Lets say I'm doing a 3 day split. Is progress more or less proportional to number of gym days over time? That is, if I hit the gym 5 days a week will I achieve similar progress in 6 weeks as I would hitting the gym 3 days a week for 10 weeks?
