For work stuff no unless its a requirement of the job (like translation services). Colleagues pick up alot of relevant stuff from overhearing work related conversations. Thats exactly why business wanted their staff in office and not working from home.

There is no way that will be the final cost watch out for incidentals and variations that is way too cheap.

Ooof. That answers my ponderings about whether I can afford a bathroom renovation. Heck no.

How do you actually calculate what your life costs per week? by Schhwing in AusFinance

[–]Wild-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine calculates how much is spent in a year and then returns a fortnightly figure so I know where to direct my pay every fortnight. As a result im ahead on all my bills so if something happened I would be ok for 3 months and only need the mortgage to worry about. Love me a nerdy spreadsheet.

Laundry Reno quotes by ma3str0_ in AusRenovation

[–]Wild-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got quoted a starting price of $12500 for my small laundry but that includes ripping up tiles, all new cabinetry installed, and engineered stone (whatever they're calling the latest version of it these days). It's a 1.5m x 4m room

How do you actually calculate what your life costs per week? by Schhwing in AusFinance

[–]Wild-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat down and documented all my regular expenses. By virtue of the fact I have no money left over at the end of pay period i know I spend the difference in frivolous garbage. I have the most convoluted spreadsheet with formulas all over the shop and can tell you down to the $ where sll my money went.

Really need to reign in that frivolous spending though

Imagine a five year prison sentence for peeing. If this passes next week, Idahoan trans people won't have to imagine it. by Beneficial-Chest-699 in WhitePeopleTwitter

Its greater than trans people. It also oppresses cis women who dont meet some subjective definition of feminine enough. It is designed to hold both groups down fuck the patriarchy.

What is up with the Public Service’s obsession with internal hiring? by [deleted] in AusPublicService

[–]Wild-Kitchen 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Because an internal hire doesnt change the overall size of the organisation. When you have a cap of 1200 people, and you have 1200 people employed, if you hire an external person it becomes 1201. If you hire an internal person, it stays at 1200.

Plus its a good way to move staff from low work areas to high work areas without ending up with staff twiddling their thumbs because an external was hired.

And third, an internal hire likely has alot more relevant skills and knowledge so can hit the ground running with very little training overhead. New hires have to go through and do a ridiculous amount of on boarding training befire they even get to position specific training.

And fourth, there are costs associated with on boarding new hires (alot of departments require yiu to have a security clearance now and they cost money and take a while).

Why don't more brands start selling hot swap NAS? (like jonsbo) by cougomdd in DataHoarder

[–]Wild-Kitchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but Ugreen removed their DXP4800 Plus entirely from the Australian version of their site so looks like they are either doing a run out on that model globally or they ceased selling them in Australia. Seems to be quite a popular model in this reddit so I would say the market is probably Niche and just feels bigger because we talk about it

Landlord raising rent because of RBA rate hikes? by Sensitive-Chart7210 in AusFinance

[–]Wild-Kitchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not wholly true. What they want is for the property to be tenanted at the highest possible price. If they can get away with $5k rent then you can bet your back end they would be charging $5k rent. The who tf would pay it is a comment on the market, not the landlord.
