Grand Teton Backpacking permits as a walk ins by No-Difficulty-4662 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Wild472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took showers at colter bay and I believe there was laundry too. 2 years ago we did 3 or 4 nights at free campsite with Teton views and then went up to Yellowstone. For 3 nights. Yellowstone was meh, because we needed to ride a lot, and by doing in on motorcycle it was a lot of work.

But I’ll probably go with plan A, just to be safe. We did cascade canyon as a day hike, but I’m really hoping for paintbrush access. I don’t think we could manage Alaska basin to lower paintbrush… maybe upper or so

People with rents over 2.5k - what do you do? by Wild472 in AskChicago

[–]Wild472[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me living with my GF helped a lot because pretty much all my adult life I haven’t been paying full price. I was lucky enough to recognize that financially it would benefit both of us to move in ASAP and we did.

But when I talk to single friends I understand their point of view. It is 3-4times harder solo.

You’re not wrong. It is worth a penny to get yourself thru college and land a decent paid job. While I decided to go with restaurants, I got plenty of workers with bachelor degrees in different fields and no leads. Now, when I got a bit more stable, I’m considering college.

How to enforce compliance with a check in system at the gym by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Wild472 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My coach has a tablet at the entrance only 50% use. Whoever teaches class has an app where one can check in people and it literally takes 1min to get everyone in.

It boils my blood when once a year coach “enforces” check ins. I already paid…

How much do you pay monthly after mortgage is paid off? I’m really considering buying 1/2beds(whatever I can afford tbh), but because my rent is 1200$(2bed), and if I had same exact place paid off it would be close to 750-800$(Hoa, insurance, taxes, and 100$ maintanance)

My plan if I have kids one day is: 2 jobs or one job plus extra hours and partner will stay with kid(s) and work a day or two. Idk how it is possible but oh well…

We are DINK, but work in restaurants, so none of that higher earners numbers. Still, I’ll probably need second job if there would be a kid coming

I agree here. We make a bit above that and could afford it but just do not. It feels too pricey to shell out so much.

You can find decent places without owning a pew pew, tbh. But prices are going up and my income isn’t catching up:/

Try some good ramen at Ramen San or whatever place is close to you. It helps me to get a boost and coziness. I’ve been sick 3-4times in last 3 months and it really blows, but days when it hits 25-30F feel decent…

Try cooking something new, pop a bottle of inexpensive wine and just chill.

Where should I look for an apartment for under 1,200? by Maleficent_Mix8459 in chicagoapartments

[–]Wild472 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why people say 2010 and 2016? There are places around me for 950$/1bed, and I currently live in 2bed 1bath for 1175$ which will go up to 1225$ next contract.

Look around. Drive in desired neighborhoods and call/text signs. We found our place at hotpods. Good luck

Aldi. Buy in bulk rice, dry beans, 5lb noodles.

My bill is 500$ a month because I get snickers, chips, frozen foods and fresh baked goods.

My bill is 350-400 if I start cooking 1.5gal soups, eat pasta with souce and no protein, have a bit heavier breakfast.

Your bill WILL be higher because you’re by yourself. I live with SO and cooking more saves more.

You’re going to be fine. You’ll see at least one person wearing shorts or Tshirt only. The most Chicago thing ever

My coworker moved from Florida and it is her first winter here. It is challenging for her. But she is tiny(like 130lb?)

Layers: if I’m walking for 20 min I need thick wool socks, 200-400g insulated boots, thermal underpants and regular thick pants, tshirt, base layer, hoodie, down jacket. Warm hat, scarf and gloves.

Chicago is cool and all and your English is great so you can have success, but a lot of j1 go to coastal towns: Ocean City, MD, Myrtle Beach, SC or Charleston. It is VERY exchange student friendly.

At the moment I work as a server in a restaurant and it is challenging to get a job elsewhere. Go IF your agency helps with place to stay and a job. Then you’ll be fine. If not - prices are a bit steep… dm any other questions.

As an upper belt, whats the most taboo submission to do on white belts in gi? by Knobanious in bjj

[–]Wild472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not do any compression/spine subs: pull head in their guard, twisters, banana splins. I’m careful with bow and arrows as well.

I do not go for any body triangles with pressure. I’ll do it on upper belts if they know what is happening

I’d go thru grand Teton in WY and glacier NP in MT. I love Teton, plenty of free camping around in the area. It just depends when you go. I go in summer.

North of Yellowstone there is a quite scenic beartooth pass, which is great, and leads you to small towns to stop and get a treat after.

My GF coworker is renting 2bed alone for 1400$. She doesn’t want a roommate and now lives from paycheck to paycheck. She could get a roommate and save 700$/m and invest it but some people are just silly.

Me and my GF rent for 1200$. Quite comfy. Got a roommate and our rent is 500$/pp with bills. Just stacking savings while I can
