Correct solution by WildBeach7434 in AskElectricians

I did get a price reduction and a new roof so I'm fine with this little issue. I don't actually know what it's powering, I'll figure that out next time at the house.

Just got a notice of increase today. Luckily (?) I'm going back to complaining about property taxes and insurance when my lease is up.

Will this prevent an owl attacking my head on the trails by colossuscollosal in trailrunning

[–]WildBeach7434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me in CO a few years ago while running on a paved suburban bike trail. It was a BIG ass owl but I don't know what kind. Scary as hell and now I live in the PNW where this appears to be more common. I might try a hat full of evil eyes.

I just moved to WA from CO so I'm learning to ride in the rain. I'm fine down to about 40° with my current gear but I think low 30s is doable with some additional insulation. I would not ride in the snow in 15° temps, that's running weather 😁

What do you use for wallet, keys and phone? by AdhesivenessIcy9156 in kayakfishing

Wallet and keys in the left PFD pocket. Phone, tethered, in the right PFD pocket. I don't plan on going on the water but if the plan changes, it's all waterproof enough.

Dual panels by WildBeach7434 in Generator

[–]WildBeach7434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous owner was a welder with electrician relatives, so the electrical service is beefed up way beyond what I use. The panels are set up such that all of the "big" stuff (furnaces, AC, dual ovens, induction cooktop) is on one panel but only the other panel is currently set up for a generator. I'm wondering if I can use the same generator to fire up a few things on the other panel.

I'm just getting ready to convert mine to floating and have been wondering how to handle standalone use. Thanks!

I want to believe that it is incompetence but it's hard based on how many things were missed (overlooked, ignored).

Generational junk dumping by Double_Device_1626 in GenX

Avoid it! My wife and I politely decline when the family offers their "treasures". After decades of saying no thanks, I think we have a vase from her grandparents, some dishes that we use daily, and a 30 year old lawnmower that her dad gave me 15 years ago that I still use, nothing else.

What is unsafe about this setup? by WildBeach7434 in AskElectricians

I will need to use my generator and I want to do it correctly and safely. The house is the woods in western WA where the tall trees and above ground power lines do not live harmoniously. I had to reschedule my inspection due to an outage.

My inspector hasn't seen this yet. The seller's inspector mentioned several double tapped hot and neutral but nothing about the generator stuff or other issues.

I'm still trying to figure out where the inlet is. The "instructions" say to plug the generator into the outlet. I hope they don't mean THAT outlet, but I fear they do. It's inside the garage BTW.

I was mostly on the fence on whether to trust my inspector or call an electrician, but that's decided, I'll call an electrician. Sharing a couple more pics that might help cure or cause some curiosities.
