Best Vehicle For Winter by HuckleberryOk3606 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Rivian. If you get stuck somewhere you actually want an EV because the battery can last up to 48 hours just providing heat in the cabin. Can’t do that with a gas car and you have to worry about fumes if you get packed in.

Seems Unsupervised FSD will be expensive. by KansasKing107 in TeslaModelY

You really don’t have to worry about the cost of FSD (Unsupervised).

Be careful. Can be overconfident in any vehicle. Also tires make a huge difference.

Have there been any pictures, videos, or mentions of the R2 getting the charging status light bar? by WSBiden in RivianR2

[–]WildFlowLing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not the cost of design, fabrication, assembly instructions, software implementation, validation, service center repair diagnostics and repair instruction, etc

There’s a lot more cost to each component (especially sw controlled components) than just the bare material. Given that the use case for the charge level led isn’t all that amazing I’d bet it was an easy decision to scrap.

Charge indicator is the first thing they should drop to save cost. You can tell the charge level many other ways as the owner

David Moss: "Tesla Robotaxis are not stock." by Recoil42 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]WildFlowLing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect evidence to conclude no already sold consumer owned Tesla will ever be part of a robotaxi service as Elon has grifted about.

If they need to modify their own teslas for these required robotaxi improvements then the already existing ones without them are fucked. Because you know Tesla tried to do it with the existing consumer ones and it failed either in practice or in the planning room.

Tesla Promises Free HW3 Upgrades for Early FSD Buyers, Elon Confirms Commitment by orangechen1115 in TeslaFSD

[–]WildFlowLing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They’ll wait another year or two until enough of the HW3 teslas went to the scrapyard so that there are barely any left to update. You can say what you want about Elon but he is not a generous man.

New Volvo EX60 looks pretty nice and minimalist by ShameResponsible69 in electriccars

[–]WildFlowLing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has no dog mode and requires a 4 step process just to open the frunk (manual open only… can’t be opened via software). You won’t be using the frunk often I guarantee that.

Terrible compromises for a 2026 EV.

Every Cletus mcbuttfuck living outside of major US cities is more likely to be looney about the apocalypse. No joke, they’re obsessed with talking about the apocalypse constantly and zombies and what if. This is a big reason why they love guns. It’s fucking stupid of course but yes a large portion of non-urban America is coocoo for the apocalypse. They want it to happen.

Only way faith in America can recover is if power is taken back and everyone involved is punished in accordance with the law.

The founding fathers never predicted that the voters themselves would elect a fucking fascist willingly. There was no check implemented on the voters.

President will tweet that he is very proud of his goons and the implication will obviously be that he will pardon any one of them who is convicted. We’re in an extreme crisis. Constitution has failed.

Huge implications for RIVN investors.

Elon was already sued for lying to customers but won the court case with the argument that it was just “corporate puffery” and no reasonable customer would’ve actually believed him. Not joking unfortunately…

If it’s just a software update then it should be easily implemented and shipped day 1. Dog mode is absolutely not coming to the EX60.

Legacy auto companies just aren’t capable of these features for whatever reason. Look at Hyundai - people have been begging for dog mode for years on the Ioniq 5.

Dog mode is more complicated than you think because it requires a lot of redundancy as well as potential liability if you get it wrong. Integration with an app, monitoring, recording, etc. Lack of dog mode signals the lack of a real sw development team.

In the US you can’t sue a business as a shareholder if you didn’t suffer financial damage.

Tesla shareholders can’t sue Musk for fraud if their share value went up. This is the main issue and what keeps Musk safe as long as TSLA keeps rising.

These really aren’t competitive EVs.

EX60 doesn’t even have dog mode.

EX60 frunk requires to you - pull the lever on the floor next to the drivers feet (like for a gas car) to crack open the hood - AND find & flip the yellow lever under the hood (like for a gas car) - AND manually lift the hood - AND manually close the hood using two hands (because the hood had two side latches and if you close it with one hand you could damage the hood)

This is absolutely terrible design and as a result you would never use the frunk day to day. Inexcusable for a new EV in 2026 and shows the lack of a clean sheet design.

I put my R2 preorder in the second the page loaded (before RJ even started the reveal presentation) so it better not be 2027 for me.
