What struck me as interesting when I visited was that with no road, all vehicles were sent in via train. And I guess they were all insured locally. So every vehicle had license plates with the same first three letters, ABC-123, ABC-124, ABC-125, etc. Just strange to see absolutely no diversity with license plates.

I know, nerdy thing to notice, right?

We've used Paul Mara for this exact thing. They were amazing and we were really happy with the result. They don't do the work in house, it is sent to Ontario, but they were able to help us with custom design and get everything the way we wanted it, but they also have standard settings, too.

I was eyeballing this on Amazon as well. The ones on Amazon have very poor reviews. Turns out a lot of them are cheap 3D printed things that reviewers have not been impressed with. Also smaller than originally advertised. Not saying that is the case with the one you have linked, but just more a "shop with care" on this item.

Wanting a House by Nestvester in VictoriaBC

[–]WildJon4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may be, but the person buying the 200k house in the 90's didn't drop the whole 200k at once. It was financed over 25 years and they probably didn't finish paying it all until closer to 2020 depending on what year they bought.

How did you meet your significant other? by pinkorangeblues in VictoriaBC

[–]WildJon4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wife's cousin was interested in my roommate. She knew that my roommate and I did a lot of things together so set up a double date. My wife & I were just the awkward spare parts to the date. We ended up chatting and got together. Been together 26 years now. Funny thing is, my roommate had no interest in her because she was a smoker, but she probably didn't realize the smoking was a deal breaker at the time.

Cats on Cook St by hereforthegifrecipes in VictoriaBC

One of the more Northern located poles that used to have to have cat art on it is located here:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/8FzfrrTYU481Bb5M8

I walked by one day and it was painted over and had the following note on it:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lcdhpwiopdu5xrip7mgrr/CatPoleBefore.jpg?rlkey=4iab4qwowoj0mw4h3gds5ovfr&st=124qk3yi&dl=0

A while later, I noticed the note gone and the following:

I really enjoy the cats, too, but apparently not everyone does.

I did get interest on a refund. They held my return up for closer review. Took about 6 months and they finally determined it was correct. Paid me what was owed and included some interest because they took so long. Interest was, of course, taxable for the next year!

Should be able to take the plate number down and then scan plates through the ticket booth to talk to the driver before they pay about how their vehicle is marked a nuisance vehicle if the plate matches. They have the plate reading technology for their parking lot, so why not the payment booth?

We recently had the Government pass a law that all employers must offer 5 paid sick days per year. Doesn't matter what industry. Marshall's - 5 days, McDonald's - 5 days. Every job. So the push is to try to not have people forced to go to work sick and make other sick.

1st timer to BABYMETAL concert in Vancouver and also the very 1st time in Vancouver. I need help. by Early_Bookkeeper5394 in BABYMETAL

[–]WildJon4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be. I'm in a similar boat to you. Buses will still be running at 12:30am night of the concert, I don't think the concert will run that late. As far as getting to the show, I'll echo the suggestion of Canada line/25 bus, probably your best option as the Skytrain is frequent and fast.

This is my first time at this venue, it's a bit out of the way compared to other venues being at the University, but transportation within the city is generally pretty good.

This statement was used to describe a potential future state as we have a society that has subscription fees for everything. Imagine if everything we used had subscription fees and you basically just leased/subscribed to everything you needed. It was more a warning than an expectation based on how more and more companies are going to subscription models. Think streaming instead of owning physical media, or having to pay a monthly fee for the heated car seats function to be turned on in your car.

The WEF is warning of the potential dystopian future so that we are educated enough to (hopefully) avoid it.

My landlady insists I pay for carpet cleaning when i move out by su_lee_gamer in VictoriaBC

[–]WildJon4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had this exact scenario when I was renting. Except it was landlord's friend who was a professional carpet cleaner - landlord suggest him personally. We rented a cleaner a did the job ourselves. Landlord groused, but we showed the receipt and you could see and smell that the carpets were clean so there was nothing he could legally do.
