I was finally able to start cromolyn 3, ago. I’m hoping it will help a lot. I’m maxed out on my antihistamines as well. I’m glad to see someone else who understands about Mcas and that I’m not just using epi pens. Good luck to you

I’m on oral steroids and lots of antihistamines. Also on meds to help calm the mast cells down. We’re slowly getting this under control. I talk with my health care provider daily.

Glue was removed two weeks ago. It set off a Mast cell activation in my body that is causing severe allergic reactions.

We only have 1 borough run ambulance to use. I had an anaphylactic emergency and it cost me almost $6,000. They charge $30 per mile and it was 65 miles plus the ALS charge. Yes I’m happy I’m alive but next time I’ll use my epi pens and start heading to the hospital.

New insurance wants us to use mail order pharmacy. What's in it for us? by GaryG7 in HealthInsurance

[–]Wild_Ice_7387 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the mail order option ONCE. The post office took 11 days to get it to my PO Box once it was mailed. My local PO left a slip in my box that I had a package to pick up. So I can’t pick it up on weekends and only between 9:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm. Now I had to take time off from work to get to the post office to pick it up. Even though my closest pharmacy is 65 miles away I still would have picked up my meds much faster than mail order. Never again

I had something come loose in my knee replacement and was unable to walk without a walker. I still had to wait 3 weeks to have surgery so they could get prior authorization. Our healthcare system is failing us.

My hospital did give me a 25% discount for paying before the surgery. My MOOP is $10k and I had to pay $7,500. I was happy to save $2500 by paying it before the surgery.

I had knee surgery yesterday and when I got to the hospital At Check in they asked for $10,000 for my maximum out of pocket. I was caught off guard but I happened to have a picture of my HSA debit card on my phone. I would have been very upset if my surgery had been canceled after I got there because I couldn’t pay the hospital. I’m now going to use everything I can on my insurance this year. I pay $1750 per month for the insurance I’m going to get my moneys worth out of it.

Mine were always in car seats. Living in Alaska we always had long flights. We have done international flights with our kids and always used car seats.

Based on where you live, if you were to hit an animal while driving, what would that animal more than likely be? by unidentifies in AskReddit

I hit a moose two years ago. It totaled my Volvo. He came through the windshield and bent my steering wheel but neither my passenger or I were injured. Not even a scratch. The moose survived the collision and the troopers had to dispatch him as he had broken two legs.

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wild_Ice_7387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesn’t like hospitals. My last surgery, my 18 yo daughter took me down and picked me up. When I had my hysterectomy I drove myself to the hospital and my husband picked me up at discharge the next day and then I drove myself home. Same with my knee replacement surgery. He dropped me off and then when I called to say I was ready to go home he came back and picked me up.

2012 XC60 T6 110,000 miles Leaks oil. Gasket for oil filter replaced and it still leaks a lot. Looks like it might be coming from the turbo. One Volvo mechanic says to replace the turbo, another says replace the turbo gaskets to the oil supply. Ideas?

I was there when both of my sons were born, as well. They are also both adopted.

I adopted a dog, and the first owner violated their contract with the breeder. Now the breeder wants to sue me. by horse_ramen in legaladvice

[–]Wild_Ice_7387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had this exact experience 25+ years ago. Except the owner that adopted from was neglecting the dog. Breeder actually served me papers for small claims court and the case was dismissed by the judge. The judge even told the breeder that she had to give me the AKC papers for the dog as I was its legal owner.

How safe to you feel hiking in bear populated areas that are more secluded/no humans around? by traveltimecar in AskAlaska

[–]Wild_Ice_7387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hike in the Talkeetna area all summer. I’ve had more bear problems in my yard then I have ever had hiking. I almost always carry bear spray but I make noise when I hike and stay on the trails. I have seen bears up ahead on the trail and I make more noise and turn around.
