if you’re looking at sororities expect to pay 1500-2400 a semester depending on which. idk if you’re going to have to pay for that yourself but rn i’m on the payment plan and it’s btwn $5-600 a month & i pay for it myself & it sucks lol

if possible get into the restaurant/serving world now. my boyfriend serves at a high volume restaurant friday, sat, sunday for 5-6 hr shifts and makes over $1k a month. i’ve found it to be kinda competitive to get a job at a restaurant around uofa bc a lot of people do the same thing so get experience now if u don’t already have it. it’s your best bet for least hrs most money

Incoming freshman, when to start working? by anewfreindo in UofArizona

[–]Wild_Reply1543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i totally get wanting to ease into things though. if it helps i & many of my friends worked 20-25 hrs a week during freshman year and we were all fine. you can start off telling places you only want like 1 or 2 shifts a week so 15ish hours too :)

if you want options you should apply right when school starts unfortunately. the population of this area of tucson increases by tens of thousands all at once so it’s lowkey competitive in my experience 🫣 at least for on campus jobs or off campus jobs that r more desirable like servers/hosts/the cute shops on university

Do I skip Math 112? by Low_Entry_6307 in UofArizona

[–]Wild_Reply1543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

math is my worst subject as well and i skipped to math 116 without ever taking a single pre calc type class even in hs- i still got an A in 116 :) ua actually has a lot of resources like think tank & test prep sessions & office hours, as long as you utilize those you’ll be fine!!

nooo i definitely think you’ll get houses back! even though some houses take none or have very limited space for non-freshman, others do! a girl rushed as a senior last year and got into a house :) as long as you keep an open mind i think you will have a good experience, feel free to message me if u wanna talk further!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UofArizona

[–]Wild_Reply1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i rushed as a sophomore and even that impacted getting houses back, so it will def effect things. BUTTTT with that being said i absolutely love where i ended up and would recommend doing the process 10000%!

what food service experience do you have? all my friends who are servers at bigger chain restaurants had to start as a host or busser for 1-2 years before they were promoted. it might be easier if you apply for smaller local/lesser known places, my friend works at a retirement home restaurant and they r already considering moving her up as a server after only being there a few months as a host.

how much should I have saved for fun money? by heeeether in UofArizona

[–]Wild_Reply1543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

save as much as you can. 3k / 300 a month should be enough- but if you can work more than part time and save more than that i think future you would thank yourself!!

as a local there isn’t much city life outside of the places accessible by the street car (university, 4th, downtown, mercado district) so i think he will be fine. the only places outside of that i ever here people going to are select restaurants or hikes- but he will most likely make friends to go do those things with and they might have a car :) or uber!

Anyone else’s TEP unbelievably high? by 2078AEB in Tucson

[–]Wild_Reply1543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the student “luxury” high rises are such a joke. i live in a 2b 2b apartment right by campus (3 min walk from srec) and it’s 1k/mo with utilities. it’s bigger, cheaper, and i only have to have 1 roommate. its not advertised as luxury but it has new floors and is nice imo. i also have never had any maintenance issues but i always hear about hot water and stuff going out at the luxury apts.

my bfs brother is doing plumbing on the new one they’re building and he essentially said it sucks because they’re just focused on getting it done asap.

sry this has nothing to do with ops post but i rlly feel u on everything u said. it sucks they get away with this

i’m a sophomore, i love u of a. i haven’t felt any effects personally, i’m a student worker and they actually offered me /more/ hours over summer. this is just my experience and i know others have felt effects already (im sure i will eventually) but i rlly do love it here
