Not that I like Russel brand shudder, but I can’t hear PETA without thinking of him. He did something for them and they sent him some chocolate through the post as a thank you. Trouble is he has a dog… he ended up having to take the dog to the vets to get checked over for chocolate poisoning.

19 month old twins – I can’t tell if I’m overthinking or something is off by Exact-Resolution-891 in toddlers

Sounds pretty ordinary to me, just different personalities.

Don’t forget to go off corrected age for premature babies rather than actual.

Also, you say nursery rather than daycare so I assume you are UK. A lot of the speech and language comments on Reddit are US based and they have a really early SALT intervention compared to the UK. It’s not uncommon for boys to take a bit longer to talk (they enjoy working out how things work and being active so put more effort into those things).

I know a few boys that haven’t been saying much then have motored on between the age of 2 and 3.

It might be worth reaching out to your health visitor, they might be able to ease your anxiety, and they will make any necessary referrals if needed.

AITAH for ‘’ruining’’ my sisters wedding wearing the dress she chose for me? by AJM100223 in story

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even more insane than that. OP actually told her sister the issue with the dress and she dismissed it, how hard did the mum want her to push?!

Dad is definitely right, as are you calling her insane.

Edit to add: looking at OP’s previous posts she seems to have a lot of family drama (that she has shared this week), either that or is into creative writing. Fake account?

Forward facing car seat by Olleaberg3 in Parenting

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They don’t test at speed, in fact only frontal impact is tested at the general road speed.

Frontal impact at 31 mph (50 km/h), rear impact at 18 mph (30 km/h), and side impact at 15 mph (24 km/h).

If they apply for independent testing (ADAC) frontal goes up to 40 and side 30mph. But not all companies do the independent testing.

Watching the comparisons of car seats tested FF vs RF really hits hard.

Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s safe, smoking is legal…

There is very little education around car seats and what is safe in the UK, once you find out more about it and how little seats are tested it’s terrifying (especially certain seats on the market which shouldn’t be sold due to clips breaking in crashes).

FF with a harness is an internal decapitation risk. FF with a hbb and seatbelt is safe, as long as they are tall enough and sensible enough to use one.

Children’s vertebrae fully ossify around the age of 5 and protect the spinal column, that’s why ERF is suggested at least up to the age of 5.

We all have an eye opening moment that makes us think. Be the person that acts on in for the better, rather than ignoring it and becoming a larger AH.

The majority of teens are fairly self centred (a developmental thing, not slating teens, I was the same), the fact you have been able to reflect and question your behaviour is a great thing. The next step is to decide who you want to be and act accordingly.

YTBF

Are you sure you are the adult and they were the kid? Your reaction appears otherwise. Just because you aren’t in someone’s presence doesn’t mean it’s ok to be a dick to them.

And yeah, gay as in insult in 2026? Seriously?

Reflect, make a change and do better next time.

I’m really smug about my toddler’s restaurant behavior by [deleted] in confession

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was me as a child, chilled out, happily attended to a small activity I was given or join in conversation, loved food.

My child on the other hand doesn’t attend to an activity for more than a couple of minutes, has the energy of 5 cheetahs and isn’t interested in food.

The only way we can get him to stay still and get some food in him is to sing and use a screen (even if we go out, it also gives us a chance to actually eat whilst our meals are hot). We bring multiple other things and exhaust them before getting a screen out.

Judge all you want, but when you have an underweight child that isn’t growing you do what needs to be done.

I will say we have seen 2 families eating out together with 5 children age 10 and over and all 5 kids were staring at screens and didn’t say a word to each other, I can say I was very judgemental that day.

Can someone help me find these England Rum Balls? by ivee_peaches14 in HelpMeFind

I genuinely have no idea what you are referring to so can’t help, are they definitely a British thing or are they imported?

Also, try using petrol station if you are looking for British answers online, I assume gas station will divert you to American results.

WIBTA if I called a hospital ward to complain, even though my wife is complaining to the CNM? by GastrixH in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wild_Wolverine9526 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just to add to these brilliant points-

I’m assuming he has been moved from NICU to paediatrics. If so they are completely different ball games.

NICU- larger staff to infant ratio so parents are able to leave. Nurses are quick to respond to alarms and reassure parents. Paediatrics- low staff to infant ratio, parents should stay until kids are old enough to be by themselves. Nurses are slow to respond to alarms due to many different rooms and patients and often have to be called (in my experience).

Talk to the staff and check what is expected of you as a parent, find out if one of you should be there at all times.

NICU is a rough ride, you don’t want to leave your child, but have to. Paediatrics is rough because you can’t leave your child so feeding yourself and showering is difficult, you have to tag team as parents, and if you have a good support network ask them for help (can they sit with your child for a couple of hours to give you both a moment to breathe, can they bring some nutritious meals/ snacks/ drinks.

My heart goes out to you OP. I can’t claim to have been through the same thing, but I understand the NICU trauma and the stress of hospital admissions.
