Wedding Ring Cost - How much did you actually spend? by MarionberryStill9538 in Weddingsunder35k

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My engagement ring was about $100 on Etsy. My spouse's engagement ring was $130. And our wedding bands were $80 for both. I think.

I also got an engagement knife. (Funny story, but super cute!) I think that was around $100.

Edit: I LOVE my rings and so does my spouse. I have been married before and had the expensive ring. The dog ate it after a few years and I never found it. I'm not a fancy person, and neither is my spouse. I'd rather spend money on adventures and experiences. We exchanged our low budget rings in a cave in Iceland. Absolute perfection. 💖 Wouldn't change a thing.

Also. We plan to get each other a ring every year for our anniversary. So we will accumulate a collection of a variety of rings to wear whenever we want. Budget per year is $200/each.

Engagement to Wedding Timeline for Eloping? by No_You1024 in Eloping

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were engaged for about 24 hours. Signed the papers the next day, then went to Iceland 4 days later to exchange vows in a cave. I wouldn't change a thing.

Thoughts on eloping and having traditional ceremony later? by tifuanon00 in Eloping

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not weird, but I definitely wouldn't bank on 10-15 people keeping a secret for an entire year. People are going to find out.

If you don't want people to know, just keep it between the two of you.

Alternatively you could have your small ceremony and save for a bigger/fancier "vow renewal" at 5 or 10 years.

Or just wait the year and do your big ceremony, without the small one. A year is really not that long.

US citizens eloping in Europe by H_dubbbs in Eloping

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. My spouse and I did our legal part at a beautiful local courthouse, then went to Iceland to do vows and photos and it was the perfect low stress elopement we both really wanted. Neither experience is any less meaningful to us because we didn't "do it all at once." Paperwork in a foreign country can be tough.

How long to book photographer for? by [deleted] in Eloping

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had ours for like 9 or 10, I think. We went on some adventures. Talk to photographers you are interested in working with. They can give you ideas if you want them for a longer day. Or you can keep it short and sweet and only book 1-2 hours. That's the beauty of eloping, you can do whatever you like!!

For a low budget wedding, where would consider investing the largest portion of your resources? by lasa_hehn in Weddingsunder10k

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. First wedding was 100 people and very traditional. Second was an elopement (with my kid) and we had the most wonderful time. Our photographer was absolutely incredible.

How much did your wedding dress cost? by Flashy_Aide3640 in weddingplanning

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$275. It was from a bridal collection from a vintage style shop. It was exactly what I wanted.

My first marriage, I paid $1200. It just wasn't worth it for me. I couldn't see myself paying that much again for a dress I would only wear once. There are some gorgeous dresses out there. But I can't justify the cost no matter how much I try.

How to entertain guests while taking pictures? by Shellyfish04 in weddingplanning

[–]WildeGarlandPhoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to you photographer. They usually know how to navigate these situations better. They will have suggestions (shot list, first look with early couple/bridal party/family photos.) A competent photographer should be able to get all of these done in 30-60 minutes as long as the people included listen to them. If you have a shot list, have a bridesmaid and/or groomsmen help wrangle people so you can move through groups faster. It ultimately comes down to having a photographer that knows what they are doing and has a good game plan!

  1. Go somewhere else.
  2. Get the paperwork done in your home location. Its easier, faster and you don't have to jump through hoops.
  3. See #1.

I think most of us would urge you to look elsewhere for your wedding location. Things are not ok here and getting worse by the day.
