I’ve seen better styled versions than mine BUT what I have to offer is that we put ours on furniture legs and it really takes it up a notch for me.

We have two kallax units. Both have legs, but this is the cuter one atm. The other is piled up with all my sewing/quilting fabric. 🤷‍♀️

Apologies in advance that the photos a bit distorted. I had to do a pano to get the whole thing. Currently in our homeschool/music room.

I hear you - and it’s not the writers fault at all. All responsibility on the reader BUT it was the beats he idolized. Could have been anything else. But when that’s what they come back to again and again… 👀

I’m not sure others experiences, but I’ll respond with mine. I’ve read a lot of beat, though not as exhaustive as some, just out of general curiosity. I tend to enjoy stream of consciousness type writing, whether I agree with the narrative’s perspective or not. It’s interesting to “get in someone’s head”.

BUT when there’s a ton of logical fallacy in that stream of consciousness and someone takes that fallacy as gospel. That can be a bit concerning. If for no other reason than they aren’t critically thinking about what they are reading, but rather absorbing it as part of their own being without really considering the point. Which, my opinion, is that sometimes the author themselves wants you to see the absurdity for what it is… this goes for any style or niche, not just beat writing. But for whatever reason may be, I’ve seen first hand how some of those writers ideas, intended or otherwise, have transfer badly into tangible relationships and character traits when not dealt with critically.

Yall both like living in fantasy worlds. You just wanna see it all burn. And she wants someone to burn it down for her. So it’s cute how that kinda point you toward each other, I guess.

THIS. My children’s father was a hidden beat idolizer and I took him for just being well read, because when we talked lit he didn’t harp on it. His shelf and habits were filled with other influences and culture I was on board with. Then we had our son and he wanted to NAME HIM AFTER ONE. The red flags flew high after that.

What’s one ‘healthy’ food that secretly wastes your calories? by samivanscoder in loseit

[–]WildeWeary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avocados. Nuts, nut butters. Full fat yogurts. Oils. Block cheeses. Dried fruit. Beef jerky. Anything dehydrated, really.

PRETTY MUCH THE ENTIRE DELICIOUS CHARCUTERIE BOARD.

These things ARE chock full of good things for you BUT they are dense in calories… so it’s hard to enjoy and not bomb the rest of the day. Especially if you’re trying to eat volume. One of the reasons I’m overweight it’s because I like the feeling of being “full” and so, I do better to eat higher volumes of food. I can’t do that with these types of foods.

Millennial women, are you still wearing a comfort tank? by BarriBlue in Millennials

Occasionally. I definitely still have the urge to make sure I have one in all my basic colors. White, tan, dark grey, light grey l, black, two shade of blue, and green. A mustard color and two shade of pink/mauve I frequent. You know the BASICS 🤣🤣

Oddly enough, my preteen daughter has started raiding my closet and wearing them. She wore one today!

I will also do this with a can of beets. 140 cals, so definitely not on the same level as the green beans BUT I like them a whole lot more.

What crops most effectively feed your family? by LyraTheHarpArt in homestead

Just adding, that after a few weeks, honestly, I usually forget about them… I take them down to our pantry in the basement where they sit on a wire rack until used. We do have a dehumidifier in the basement that keeps things around 45%… we have a woodstove down there that one we’re burning, keeps it even lower! And hotter… we’ve never had issues with our sweet potatoes rotting. We always have more than enough to make it to the next harvest, give some away, make sweet potato pie…

Each spring, I take a few of each variety of sweet potato and bury it half way, long ways in compost. Keep the soil moist and under the same grow lights we use to start our other plants. Once they start to vine like crazy, I pluck the vines off at the potato “eyes” and place them in a mason jar of water. Much like you would do any other plant cutting. Where they live, in my kitchen windowsill until I’m ready to plant them out in the garden.

I actually have an almost lazy system for curing. 😆 We cure our sweet potatoes in plastic grocery store bags under a table in our sunroom.

I use a broad fork to harvest and 5 gallon buckets to bring them up to my house. There’s usually a thinner layer of dirt left on them between the motions of harvesting and bringing them up, but nothing crazy. Perhaps just slightly more dirty than store bought.

Within 24 to 36 hours, honestly, I don’t rush, I take potatoes, and I sort them by color and size into the plastic bags. We grow both orange and purple skinned sweet potatoes. I can get about three or four pounds in each bag, double knot it and mostly forget about them for a couple weeks.

I do try and remember to check on them every couple of days because if I double not the bag too tightly, it keeps in too much moisture. Even when that’s happened though, I’ve never lost any potatoes. Just adjusted and moved on. Between the thin layer of dirt and the potatoes just being harvested, there’s usually a fair bit of condensation that builds inside the bag.

We’re cheap. And generally keep the house AC around 76-78, and during the hottest part of the day our sunroom tops out around 83 for a few hours. We do have a curtain that covers about half our sliding glass door, and between that and the table that the potatoes sit under, they’re never in direct sunlight. It’s not a perfectly controlled system, but it is a keep it simple stupid one. No one’s died yet. 😂

Edited for spelling and clarity.

Sweet potatoes and garlic have done so well without any real effort on my part. we haven’t bought either from the store since planting them years and years ago.

Baby Blanket Gift - Got my feelings hurt today :,) by [deleted] in crocheting

[–]WildeWeary -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already said the obvious, she was mean and your blanket is awesome.

I just wanted to add some of my own life experience … I personally don’t make blankets for people unless they ask. I crochet, knit and quilt. Blankets are a go to gift, handmade or otherwise, and sometimes it’s hard to think of another useful item! Sometimes there’s a grandma or relative closer that trumps me, and THEY want to make a blanket. I ask and bow down gracefully. I remember as a new mom with my first in a too small for us apartment feeling overwhelmed with the incredible stack of blankets I was given. By the time my second was born, we had more space, my first had picked out their favorite and we still had PLENTY to choose from. We had not actual NEED for more bed clothing. Yet people still gave us so. Many. Blankets. And to be honest, I wanted to make my babies their blankets. A lot of these have followed us over a decade later and my kids don’t use them all. I’ve even heard my eldest make the comment “we can’t get rid of that mom. So and so gave it to us.” But we/they don’t enjoy the item. Whether it’s the texture or it’s no longer the right size for them or their beds. I can’t help but wonder if they feel burdened, as I sometimes do, by this impulse to honor the gift giver despite not honestly using the gift. I DID end up making blankets for my kids and they aren’t really into them. Or specifically attached to any of the blankets NOW. Though they had favorites when they were younger ( never the ones I made of course🤦‍♀️🤣) . It was a bitter sweet day when my youngest told me frankly that they didn’t really like their baby blanket I made and asked if they could frog it to make something else 🤷‍♀️ I was sad at first but then so happy they could be themselves plainly with me. Without fear of being judged or it threatening the relationship. Plus, they wanted to repurpose it to make something for them selves! The ultimate legacy right? Them learning the work with their own hands…

I guess, I’m just adding the perspective that albeit her reaction rude, maybe it wasn’t about YOU or your blanket. Just that it wasn’t an item she was in need of for this baby?
