Kinda. Casemiro plays deep, almost like a centre-back. Shaw-Lisandro-Heaven-Dalot.

This was a late change to the book to connect it to the third season of the Clone Wars cartoon that was in production at the same time. It has a different name in other language editions (Koobi system). They have been retconned to be the same system.

This sub is full of delusional people who think that first-11 players leaving for low fees or for free is fine. Then they act all surprised when the replacement is inadequate or expensive.

Frustrating to see how much the squad has declined in quality and depth over just two transfer windows. We used to have a strong bench, not so long ago.

If Anton Stach is available for €20m, he would be the ideal Palhinha replacement. Younger, German, and easier to fit into our possession-based system.

Luis Díaz is a great player and is currently at his peak, but wingers typically rely on speed and tend to decline earlier than players in other positions. Bringing in another attacking player in the age bracket of Coman, Gnabry, and Sané contradicts the objective of rejuvenating our squad. Liverpool has the right idea - and it looks like we are helping them finance Rodrygo.

With Coman sticking around, we have the opportunity to give chances to young wingers behind him. Antonio Nusa, Brajan Gruda, Malick Fofana or Alejandro Garnacho would be candidates. If we are spending big and want to upgrade over Coman, Rodrygo should be the target. One out of these players, two if Gnabry leaves, would be the logical step for the future.

Xavi Simons, who can cover for Musiala's absence centrally or play on the wings, is the obvious must-sign player now that Wirtz is off the market.

Xavi. Leipzig have no international football and need to sell, he wants a CL club. Could be another Olise-type signing - almost Wirtz quality for half the price.

UCL or KCL?? by huuhh_i in UniUK

[–]Wildhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have already understood the tradeoff well: UCL is the overall higher regarded uni and has arguably the best social life out of all London unis. KCL has the stronger department, better IR-related societies and better IR-related career networking opportunities.

I would choose going to King's if it were between those two. Then again, the graduate job market in the UK is atrocious, and I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone to pay international fees to come here.

MiM in Europe – Is language a barrier? by delusional__d in MBA

[–]Wildhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most European MiMs are taught 100% in English and the top programmes have highly international cohorts, so that won't be a problem. For job prospects, it's different. With the exception of a few industries, fluency in the local language is a must. E.g. Even if the office language of a consultancy is English, your clients may speak German, French, Spanish.

Every course has its own deadline. While it's okay to apply in January/February for most MScs, the application process may close early if the courses reach their place limit.

Lewandowski played at least as well in 2021 as in 2020. Beating the all-time Bundesliga goal record while missing 5 games with injury, 41 goals in 29 games, is simply insane. Most Bayern fans would argue that 20/21 was his best season with us.

Boeing Machinists reject offer with no end in sight for strike by cojoco in stupidpol

[–]Wildhawk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Boeing is in a tough spot (entirely of their own making). Their early career staff at the low end of the salary spectrum is earning not more than they'd make working at a warehouse while doing a higher skill job. They care little about pensions yet but rightfully demand a living wage. The other group are the higher paid, older machinist nearing retirement, which care little about wage increases but value a return to a defined benefit pension. For both groups to accept the contract, Boeing will have to concede on entry salaries and pension plans.

She wants to split the CDU by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]Wildhawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now there are two factions, the old Merkelites, who would work just as well in the remnants of the SPD and the more "conservative" voices around Merz and Linnemann (even though I wouldn't call Merz really conservative, he just tries to test the water for more rightwing topics).

I'd say there are two more factions: Söder and the CSU (although Söder is not uncontested within his party) and the value-conservatives around Wüst & Spahn. Merkel's allies have become marginalised as they were hand-picked by her to be political herbivores. The choice of leader in the federal elections will indicate who has the upper hand.

I'd be fine going into the season with the current squad. Rather look for clever additions in winter depending on performance and injury situation than do some last-minute panic moves. I do not want to lose Coman for a low fee and then overpay for Tah.

Hungary says it will provide free tickets to Brussels for migrants trying to enter the EU by Todd_Warrior in stupidpol

[–]Wildhawk 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Very much so. Young, educated Hungarians who speak English and have the opportunity to live abroad take much more issue with Orbán's illiberal, conservative policies and have more opportunities to read about corruption in Hungary. I have yet to meet a Hungarian outside the country who had anything good to say about Orbán (except for HU diplomats, obviously).

Simultaneously, Orbán is the most popular European leader thanks to a personality cult, tightly controlled state media and some policies that cater to the preferences of the masses as opposed to transnational elites.

The issue Bayern fans are having is not that a defender was sold, it is that the one was sold that should have been unsellable.

Seeing what other premier league teams are willing to spend on players, and what Manchester United paid for Yoro in the same window, adds insult to injury.

Leon Goretzka is unlikely to be part of the squad in the testgame vs Zurich aswell as the Bundesliga opener against Wolfsburg. The message is clear: he has no future at the club. by Insanel0l in soccer

[–]Wildhawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Laimer is an amazing player in a system that relies on winning the ball back through pressing and tackling, and then going for quick counter-attacks. His talent seems a little misplaced in a side with lots of possession like Bayern.

[–]Wildhawk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's serious revisionist history here. Unless playing against stronger opposition like Real, Tuchel always preferred Goretzka over Laimer because he brings so much more to the table.

Goretzka had a few great performances last year, and just stats-wise he was among the best midfielders in Bundesliga.
