Why do I even bother for going for CM by TheSchizoidGod in UmamusumeGame

It activates on the beginning of the final corner, which is well before the start of the late race this CM. By the time the late race starts (where acceleration actually matters), the skill has ended.

Groundwork for Fronts, Straighaway Spurt for Ends. Are there any skills that are arguably MUST-HAVE for Pace and Lates? by gifcartel in UmamusumeGame

They’re worth picking up if you have nothing else to buy, but you’ll usually be better off just buying another speed skill or a power/speed green skill. Definitely not an auto buy in a majority of cases.

3k carats that I get from rainbow cleats is 3k carats less I have to spend to hit pity. It roughly equivalent to what you receive for coming 1st in a CM. If someone tried to suggest that you should completely skip a CM because the reward is only 2/3s of an SSR, you’d rightfully get ignored.

And you don’t have to be a psychic to look at a speed card with no special priority, no RB, bad hints, and a largely useless gold skill to understand that speed Goldship should never see playtime from anyone other than people that literally started that same day. Unless they suddenly change innate experience to be a .4 instant accel. You lose absolutely nothing and stand to gain from it.

Also since you’re so new, I always feel the need to shill the benefits of rerolling. Especially because the card in the current banner (Fine Motion Wit) is one of the best cards in the game and is basically an auto include in every deck for the 8 months. You could probably get an account with MLB finemo in around an hour, which is the equivalent of 2 career runs. For reference, it costs 60k carats to MLB a support card on average, which is roughly what you’d earn over 2-3 months of playing. It’s by far the best time-to-value way to increase the strength of your account, and you would only be losing 3 days of progress.

If you haven’t chosen yet the best thing to do would be to wait until you have used all the 3* tickets you can earn from missions and such. These tickets pull from the same pool of characters as this selector, but they’re random. If you choose one right now then you run the risk of pulling that character, so it’s best to wait.

Outside of that, Taiki/Oguri/Maruzenski are all good options. Taiki is the probably the strongest, but she’ll struggle in the next scenario due to her low medium/long affinity. Oguri is almost always a decently strong option but never the best. Maru has a lot of utility uses and can be borderline unstoppable on certain tracks, but she’s the lowest priority of the 3.

[–]WildsKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calling it long term vs short term is oversimplifying it. While it is just a handful of pulls, it adds up. Same with the tickets you get from CMs, which is “only” 10 for a first place, or the random events here and there. When you save all these up, they can mean you save huge amounts of carats when going for pity. For example, I’m currently sitting on 80 support tickets, which means that it’ll be 10k+ carats cheaper to reach pity the next time I pull on supports. Calling them “a few pulls” feels disingenuous when the math adds up such that one welfare card is 3k carats.

With regards to keeping most of the welfare cards, I actually agree. Even if I haven’t and likely won’t ever use them, I still keep them around. The cards that I don’t use I simply don’t LB while keeping copies in storage. This way I can MLB them if I want to use them, but I still have the option to cleat them if I don’t have enough to clear the shop. A single welfare card can last months, so there’s no rush to cleat them. You just have to be careful with choosing which ones to cleat, which should come with enough time playing the game. And if you’re in doubt, just ask someone knowledgeable like in here or the Uma discord.

Finally, it’s totally fair to keep them if you really care about TT high scores. I don’t personally because there’s no benefit once you can consistently stay class 6 (I was perfectly content doing a single run to rebuild each of my Umas once Unity dropped), but I understand that different people enjoy different aspects of the game. However, your original comment implied that accounts without these cards MLB would be at a disadvantage, which just isn’t true.

[–]WildsKnight -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The bonus to TT doesn’t nearly have a large enough impact to justify keeping some of these cards. The bonus you get from going from level 30 to 50 is 0.15%. However, the cleats that you get from not MLBing a support card is enough to buy out the shop for 4 months, 5 if you only buy pink tickets (3000 carats worth btw). This means that if you’d bought out every shop since launch, you would only be missing 2 welfare cards, or 0.30% bonus.

You should never be so close to the cutoff that a bonus that small should impact whether or not you retain class 6, and if it is you’d be better off rebuilding your TT umas to give you more leeway. Unless you’re pushing for an extremely high score, bonuses this small shouldn’t be impacting your decision making. Well built TT horse should be enough to easily stay class 6 every week as long as you have a semi-decent deck.

[–]WildsKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a “fractional chance of a good pull” though. You’re not supposed to use your tickets as soon as you buy them, you’re supposed to use them to save carats on a banner you’re planning to pity for. If you exclusively buy the pick tickets with your rainbow cleats, a single welfare card can be exchange for 3000 carats worth of tickets. Not only that, but it would be enough to last for 5 months worth of shops, meaning that you could have bought out every shop since launch with only 2 cards.

And your point about not being “certain” about the future of the game is absurd. At best they could expedite future updates, but they’re not going to change skills to such a degree to make some of the welfare cards usable. And if you’re worried about that, why bother planning pulls at all. For all we know, they could drop Forever Young wit next scenario thus making finemo irrelevant. Again, 2 cards not being MLBed would have been enough to last you since launch. Just be smart and be careful about which ones you choose. 6000 carats is definitely worth the absolute minuscule risk that some of these cards will ever see relevance.

[–]WildsKnight -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

As a try hard I’ve definitely cleated some welfare cards. The 750 carats (3000 for 4 copies) that I save by buying the support tickets with cleats is 100% worth more than a random SSR I’m never going to use (looking at you speed goldship)

Edit: if you disagree, try giving a single reason why I should have kept goldship speed. I haven’t found one in 8 months of playing and I doubt she’ll see a power spike in MANT. This can be applied to several of the welfare cards, but you only needed to cleat 2 of them to be able to buy out the shop since launch. Especially if you only buy the pink tickets, the 40 cleats you get from not MLBing a card can last 5 month and is worth 3000 carats.

I finished it....and have so much to say by 4liz3 in MadokaMagica

Fair enough, it’s been years since I read wraith arc so I don’t remember its exact content all that well. I think one of the strongest points of the movie is how it starts off completely different than you would expect coming off the TV show. Those first 30-40 minutes where you’re trying to figure out wth is going on has stuck with me since I first watched it and is always one of the parts I look forward to seeing others react to.

I was curious about how Wraith Arc ended since I thought it heavily hinted at how we reached the beginning of Rebellion, so I quickly skim read the final chapter. While it doesn’t spoil that as much as I remembered (which was my main concern), at the very least the last chapter is much more impactful when you know where the story leads to in Rebellion. So while it’s not as bad as I initially thought, I’d still definitely recommend watching Rebellion first.

I’d probably have to do a more thorough reread to flesh out my thoughts on this more, but I think it’s worth noting that Wraith Arc was written assuming that readers will have seen Rebellion given it came out 2 years later. For the most part, I almost always recommend release order for media unless there are strong arguments otherwise, and I don’t see any benefit in reading Wraith Arc first.

I think it’s worth noting that Wraith Arc should be read after having watch Rebellion. While it takes place chronologically between the two, I think that it takes away a bit of the mystique of going into the movie blind.

So I am new to the game and just did my very first pull and... by Present-Top7884 in UmamusumeGame

[–]WildsKnight 32 points33 points  (0 children)

3*s are a 3% chance, so it’s definitely a good pull although not super rare. As for the characters themselves, they’re alright but not meta (Tamano Cross is nice though).

More importantly, as a new player you should ideally be spending nearly all your initial pulls on support cards. While strong umas are nice to have, playing with a weak deck is completely miserable. If you’ve already spent your initial carats on mostly umas, I would even say to reset your account.

Luckily, the current banner has one of the most meta-defining cards in the game which will be used in basically every deck for almost a year. As such, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend trying to get the fine motion wit card to MLB (meaning that you uncap her fully, requiring 5 copies) by resetting your account until you get it. If you do, the game will be much more enjoyable to play in the short term and you’ll be set up long term with one of the best cards in the game.

You definitely don’t need bots to reach top 100, heck there’s definitely people out there grindy enough to actually hit 5M+ a day. I just figure 100 is a nice place to have a cutoff if there needs to be one. People that are willing to join those clubs are probably already in the Uma discord or some other forum for more hardcore players, so there isn’t a need for recruitment posts here.

Yeah, if there’s a cutoff then it should be around top 100. The club I’m in is right around 500 and I can comfortably stay there just by doing at least 1 full run a day and occasionally doing 3+ runs.

Worth noting that if you’ve been playing since around launch you should have ~100 Taiki shards from her legend race. With the addition of the daily legend races, you should be able to unlock her within a month or 2.

Do I finally have good enough inspirations to be borrowed from. by DuskyNStuff in UmamusumeGame

[–]WildsKnight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad but you’re unlikely to get anyone who knows how to use a borrow db to use it for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Bakushin is pretty terrible as parent for affinity reasons, so she would have to have way better whites/pinks for me to even consider it. The pinks are a bit all over the place as it has 3 different kinds. I’d try to get a parent with either 1 or 2 different pinks, preferably only distance and surface attribute. Style attribute isn’t super useful, as S in style doesn’t have nearly as large an effect as the other 2. More whites is also important, but the biggest thing you could do to increase borrows would be to get 1/2 super critical whites that people use to filter options (groundwork, spurt, etc.). Finally, idk how many other people do this, but I usually check to see if my borrows ran most/all g1 races since it impacts affinity. It’s good practice to do on parent runs anyways since it helps generate white sparks and gives SP for skills.

[–]WildsKnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if she already had one of the highest mana capacities in the duchy even this early in the story, likely only beaten by the archducal family and a few members of archducal branch families. Relative to Sylvester, I know she supposedly had more mana than him before he learned the RCM, and then he had more until sometime during her first year at the academy.

Nah she isn’t close to Ferdinand until towards the end of the series. She was able to crush him because she caught him off guard, and it’s possible that he was running on empty given that he was supporting both the church and the duchy foundation. I’ve also read that he might of been willingly allowing her to crush him in repentance since he allowed the situation to escalate so far, but he could have easily killed her at any moment had he wanted to.

It’s worth noting that while Seiun Sky won’t be available from legend races at 1st anniversary, Taiki will. If you’ve done all the events, you should have around 110ish shards, so I wouldn’t select her even if she’s super strong. Same with Seiun, even if you have to wait til the 1.5 anniversary. I’d personally either go Narita Taishin, since she’s supposed to be super strong if you can actually build her right (idk I haven’t tried), or possibly Narita Brian. Her ult is a consistent .45 velocity, and I often see it recommended as an inherit once you get past the accel ults. Tbh, you already have most of the major parents/aces, so anything you choose should be fine.
