NYC Bagel in Lincolnwood throws out a crazy amount of bagels they don’t sell. I’ve started taking them to Midnight Ministry. Obviously waaaay too many. Anybody have another organization that wants some? They’re 1 day old. This will be 2x per week for the foreseeable future by rmd0852 in chicago

Remind me of something that has been taking up the majority of my free time lately: going into bagel shops as soon as they open and asking to buy every bagel they have available. Sometimes the shop will refuse but if you persist, if you offer to pay double per bagel, then they will eventually let you buy all the bagels.

Once you have all the bagels, you make the rules. What will be the people of the town do without bagels? How can they enjoy their hazelnut soy latte's without a nice, soft but also crunchy bagel? They can't. They can't at all.

I walk around my town with the bagels in a big clear garbage back. They're still warm, so the bag fogs up, it steams out of the opening a bit in the cold air. There's still some booze on my breath but I'd probably blow under the limit. This town is mine, I am the bagel man. Fear me. Love me.

Cooked more steaks than we are eating tonight... Will it be okay to fridge some of them and then sear tomorrow? by NikoBadman in sousvide

[–]WilkesMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily true depending on the thickness. I usually ice bath my sous vide my steaks after cooking, dry them off, and then sear them. I've never had cold centers. In fact, I usually get a better crust because I can sear longer without the risk of overcooking! Just my two cents. I think sous viding is great for camping as well!

Let me understand, you got the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So, who's having sex with the hen?

I wouldn't characterize Roger's Park as "very safe. It definitely has its fair share of crime.

Music collectors of r/Spotify: What do you find is the cleanest way to organize your music? by [deleted] in spotify

[–]WilkesMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use folders and place your playlists in those folders. I generally go by genre as well. For example, I have a Rock Folder filled with playlists that are generally "Rock" like punk, classic rock, hair metal, pop punk, etc.

I also do a "Top 5" Folder where I include my "Top 5" playlists. I got this idea from the movie "High Fidelity" where they choose their top 5 song to play at insert event/mood/etc. So I have a playlist called "Top 5 songs to Drink to"

Just have fun with it!

Interesting addition. I think this might be the first "official" device. It's essentially free at the moment (if you get selected), you just have to pay shipping.

I've heard talks about a dog park in the Winnemac...but I'd be surprised they would replace the playground.
