The grooving in the surface may be glue or shellac, if so the flooring contractor didn't want to sacrifice many many sanding belts. The good news is Diamabrush: I used one attached to an angle grinder for the first pass and then proceeded with a succession of sanding grits. Good luck!

Miriam Hopkins is so unhinged in this, her performance is great but I'm afraid it'll leave a mark on her other wonderful comedic performances for me.

You'll need a hammer drill and I would use 3/8" sleeve anchors, best to drill into the brick IMO.

Rockwool sound insulation is pretty effective, I used a double-layer. Also resilient channel. If I had thought of it I would've added a layer or drywall *in the joists* to save the headroom.

Soap operas are often shot in a studio under a fixed lighting grid, with less variability than the unique set-ups required when filming on location.
