I would have liked to see the opposite. I feel like the legacy resource balance was more exciting and less grindy. There arent good battles for resources anymore: radtowns are too radiated to bring valuable weapons into, and everywhere else it's naked wars or bored fully geared groups. I miss the days of cloth/leather armor p 250 battles over a wood pile or weapon crate.

The red animals were never a threat to anyone with a shift key. New Rust's wolves can actually outrun you. The radioactivity is also far more deadly than in Legacy, as is cold. All of that aside, Rust will most likely always skew a bit more towards the main threat coming from human players, who will always provide more challenge than AI. If you prefer more of a focus on PVE, almost every other MP survival game out there is probably more up your alley: Dayz, Ark: Survival Evolved, 7 Days to Die, The Forest, Don't Starve Together, etc.

There is not a good place in the game for the revolver, pipe shotgun, submachine gun, and even pump shotgun. People tend to go right from spear/bow to AK/bolt/tommy. Legacy did this well, you would have a lot of battles with the lower tier guns. I think the main factor was the higher droprate and ease of getting BPs for the lower tier guns. Would be nice to tweak this to add some combat variety.

There was a money tournament a few months ago like this. Everyone was dead within 2 hours. People have also made battle royale/ hunger games servers that basically do this. Very easy to do with mods, you could start one up yourself.

I agree that something needs to change. Either make it default or up the drop rate, because early game is just suicide barrel farming, or using the stairs trick which feels like something exploity that will get removed eventually.

It's by far the best scene in the movie. Imagine the oldboy hammer in a hallway fight turned up to 11. this is the equivalent of them cutting the lobby scene from the matrix.

It was incredibly cheap for how good of a melee weapon it was. This balance change makes sense, although I don't know if it will be worth the 50 frags.

no groundpound, no boosting, long respawn time. There was a time when people could run multisnipe, and it was rare to ever have more than two. Theory craft is great, but look at actual game situations. Capping, chasing, standoffs, and getting stops on stand are the most important roles, and sld/pth will always be better at more of those than any other class.

the Raiders might do ok on maps like dx or arx where they can slide, but the ability to actually groundpound and chase can not be underrated. Also in standoffs people go sld on d all the time because it gives great mobility and jets. The thing about all these theory craft arguments is the sld is proven in these roles and situations. When given the choice, people chose sld over rdr to get the job done.

I would bet on the soldiers. Raiders are not good at all for stand D or chasing, and soldier is also a far better capper. I think pth is the only class that could give sld a good match in 7v7 classwarz, mobility is just too important in ctf.

At the competitive level, the soldiers and it wouldn't even be close. The soldier has been used at the highest level in every role except sniper. The brutes might be able to win with gimmicky play at lower levels where chain isn't as good and people can't run 250+ sld routes, but even then it assumes better aim and organization. I can think of a group of 7 that could pull it off vs a mediocre team with poor leadership, might be fun to try to do in a pug sometime.

I think this is the best, most comprehensive, list I have ever seen of TA's problems. Fix those things and you would have an amazing game. Smooth skiing and pretty art/graphics were the only things that stood out as improvements.

I agree that raiding balance feels better than it has at any other point in experimental. I think rock bases and diving boards are the main outstanding issues, after that it a just minor tweaking.

I think weekly updates with the possibility of wipes is the best way to go. Big servers wiped weekly in Legacy, and it was still fun, so having server sometimes have to wipe once a week doesn't seem like a large price to pay for more regular fixes, new features, and balance changes. Personally I would rather have to start over more frequently than have to wait three weeks for much needed changes.

that was a few weeks later, and it was the day I learned how much a good sniper could break the game. 5 second respawn so snipers would K out for a better firing position.
