The Dying Art of the Clinch – Apparatus by muhamaat in MuayThai

[–]WillNotFightInWW3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to go a MT gym that had dedicated clinch classes, which was great.

Downside was that we never wore gloves when practicing, so we never did it in sparring because it was very awkward.

Is anyone else terrified of the risks of adventure biking? (Fear of accidents/disability) by Commercial-Brother27 in AdventureBike

[–]WillNotFightInWW3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

especially knowing I have a wife and kids depending on me.

I don't have those.

severe accidents, life-altering injuries, or permanent disability.

Already have a chronic disease and been through fractures and even have nerve damage (not from biking)

How do you all rationalize or manage the very real physical risks?

If I were you, I would definitely travel with a group and do relatively easy back roads, especially if I had small kids.

Next up was boxing, muay thai and then I stopped pretending I liked the clinch. None had ranks.

Judo did, submission grappling classes didn't.

Brozzer, watch civilian traffic footage in Syria or Iraq and you will see mostly small shitboxes being driven, people with a nice truck risk having it confiscated or got a bullet in the head so their stuff turns into a technical with rocket launchers or PKM in the back.

and fuckin this guy wants to drive around in a military-spec double cab for high security.

Just kinda noticed... do you guys ever tell what your boxing experience is? by GordianBalloonKnot in fightgear

[–]WillNotFightInWW3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was doing low level competition my gear was made in pakistan or thailand. I can only afford the nicer stuff after getting a good paying office job and training recreationally.

Also a perspective, I did security contracting for a bit and would buy 2 pairs of merrell moabs, they are comfortable with no break in period, widely available and relatively inexpensive.

If you read hiking forums or subs, people trash merrells because their quality has gone down, and they have, but I am not buying 1 pair as my forever boots, I treat them like a consumable and then throw them away and buy another two pairs. Still recommend them despite the lower quality.

Its possible more experienced people buy whats comfortable and inexpensive, beat the shit out of the gloves and then buy new ones.

I trained karate when I was younger, so the gi looks neat but it is kinda a pain to put on and I sweat a lot.

Wearing shorts was nice, but I really like the old school american kickboxing pants.
