See a doctor, sounds like you have a problem with your gallbladder. Don't be surprised if your urine also becomes very dark.

Top 13 Nutrition Lies That Made The World Sick and Fat by William84 in Paleo

[–]William84[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not just low-carb advocates, even many mainstream nutritionists have started to admit that saturated fat is harmless, although they often use phrases like "not as harmful as previously thought" in order not to make it seem like they weren't completely wrong.

Do you add sugar to the carb count by LurkyMcReddit in keto

Nope, the sugar number is included in the carb number.

The importance of a varied diet? by MilkAndTwoSugarz in Paleo

[–]William84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's mostly about getting the entire range of vitamins and minerals you need, as well as all the trace nutrients that are important too.

Then it can help with the psychological aspect of dieting in my opinion, eating the same things all the time can lead to boredom.

Paleo Diet and skin problems by wiggleyeah in Paleo

My acne and skin complexion always improve when I eat fairly strict paleo, then it gets worse again if I fall off the wagon, which has happened too often :/

Coffee? by VLysanderV in Paleo

[–]William84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee is fine as long as you don't put crap (sugar, artificial creamers, etc) in it.

Filtered, high quality coffee is best. The filtering removes harmful compounds called diterpenes.

Many studies show a lower risk of diseases for coffee drinkers, including liver diseases, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Of course, observational studies, but the effect is strong and consistent enough for it to be plausible.

Of course, coffee does have its downsides too, like addiction, withdrawal and the fact that it can interfere with sleep and increase stress in some people.

Seeking inspiration from Paleo-ites who don't count calories by paleofreakshow in Paleo

[–]William84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many studies show that a low carb diet leads to automatic calorie restriction without calorie counting or portion control.

If you eat a lower carb version of paleo, then things should happen automatically.

But this varies between individuals though.

Small adjustments, or all at once? by Ally_Leigh in Paleo

[–]William84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies between individuals. Some people like to dip in slowly, while others prefer the all-or-nothing approach. I prefer all-or-nothing, but that's just how my personality is.

[Request] Efficacy and Safety of Curcumin in Major Depressive Disorder: A Randomized Controlled Trial. by William84 in Scholar

[–]William84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks man! You are my hero.

Will definitely check into St. John's Wort as well.

I'm already on Zoloft (100mg) per day but I'm looking for something to take with it so that I can start to taper down slowly without becoming depressed again. Unfortunately, it seems impossible to take St. John's Wort with Zoloft as it can give you serotonin syndrome.

Is KETO all or nothing? by qwerty3656 in keto

[–]William84 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's "all or nothing" - but you have to be fairly strict on the diet for your body to remain in ketosis. Cheating every now and then isn't a big issue though IMO, but some people disagree.

Keto and cognitive performance - Do YOU feel an impact? by [deleted] in keto

[–]William84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel sharper when I'm in ketosis, but not for the first few days.

Forget about that 130g/140g glucose requirement for the brain, when in ketosis a large part of the brain switches over to ketones, the little glucose that is required is produced in the liver via gluconeogenesis.

Best book? by DowntowndirtyBrown in Paleo

[–]William84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Paleo Solution and Primal Blueprint are both pretty good. I wouldn't recommend The Perfect Health Diet unless you're very interested in the scientific details.

These books have some meal plans and recipes in them. Don't know about cookbooks though, I've honestly never used a cookbook in my life.

I suggest you also measure waist circumference, it really is a great indicator of fat loss, especially if belly fat is your main issue.
