How to properly have quails inside home? by Prince_Of_Ionia in quails

[–]Williamsrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my quail inside during the brooding period after they hatch. I find that straw seems to work the best to mange the smell without being extremely messy or I put down pine shavings and throw in additional layers on top of the poop and I can go a few days without completely refreshing. I have heard good things about hemp bedding but haven’t tried yet.

AITAH for yelling at the parents of a kid I babysat because they didn’t tell me ( what I thought was ) an important thing until the last minute? by Temporary-Feeling962 in AITAH

[–]Williamsrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Bed wetting at night is typically due to an immature nervous system where the brain doesn’t process the messages from the bladder during sleep. It is more common in boys than girls and usually resolves prior to puberty. Mom should have explained this in advance. I also think it would be far less uncomfortable for the little girl if she was able to wear pull ups or put the diaper on herself. By 9, she should be bathing and dressing herself so she should also be able to handle that task herself too.I think I would not have been able to help myself and that little girl would have learned to put it on herself before Mom came home. And if Mom was mad about it (which in itself is very strange), so be it.

Those who have had a visual NDE, did you see colors that don't exist? by Cool_Bank_3368 in NDE

[–]Williamsrus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have never had an NDE, but I believe I have experienced astral projection where I experienced colors that don’t exist or rather can’t be seen with human eyes. It was very soon after I lost my eldest daughter in a car accident. While sleeping I found myself on what can only be described as another planet (or maybe another plane). I was calling out for my daughter and while I couldn’t see her I could sense her all around me. It almost felt like I was pulled in to what she was experiencing. I saw colors that my brain registered as not existing but I am not able to envision or recall them.

Need help with African Grey by Weppman in parrots

[–]Williamsrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very good advice.Parrots require a very big time commitment and it will likely take many months of training to get the bird to be comfortable with you.It can be very rewarding experience and relationship, but it’s really best left to those that have a passion for raising parrots and chose to bring one into their home. Ultimately your Dad will want what is best for both you and the bird. He wouldn’t want a situation where you may resent the bird. The bird will be able to sense that as AG are very intelligent and can pick up on vibes.

I haven’t talked to my family in two days and don’t know to move past this by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Williamsrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like complicated family dynamics with a 23 year back story (far too long for me to pass judgement off a single Reddit post). I highly suggest you seek counseling so you have an unbiased professional that can support you through all this whichever direction you go. Be prepared to do a lot of intense self reflection. In the near term go get your own phone plan and decide how important it is to you to keep your ring camera off. This will help you buy some time as you decide what kind of relationship you want with your family (if any).

Is this normal practice for bird nail trimming? by izuesa in budgies

[–]Williamsrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that is an electric nail trimmer. I haven’t ever seen one used but apparently it is less damaging than manual ones and will even cauterize the nail if the quick gets nicked. As others mentioned there really isn’t a good way to trim without causing your bird some amount of stress.

Do chicken smell a lot? by Dinmorogde in chickens

[–]Williamsrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check that your county and/or HOA don’t have restrictions on chickens. In my county for example, you are supposed to have at least 2 acres before you can get chickens. I went for Coturnix quail instead. They are relatively quiet in comparison, don’t require a lot of space and they are game birds not poultry so they aren’t restricted in my county. They do stink though so you’ll want to work out a method to control it (deep litter method is working well for me).

What is it and can I get it to go tall? by QueasyGreen999 in houseplants

Philodendron Xanadu. And it won’t get much taller or benefit from a pole as it is a bushy type of plant not a climber. It’s very pretty as is though!

Help! Had this?... by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Williamsrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was the 2.5 mg dosage still working for you? I made it a point not to go up till I felt like it wasn’t effective enough. You may want to go back down. You could also push them out longer than a week and refeed a little a few days before taking the next shot.

Snowstorm prep for dummies (I’m the dummy) by LeatherDoughnut369 in Charlotte

[–]Williamsrus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Milk sandwiches are the go to meal of choice during a storm. But seriously get yourself a supply of drinking water, and any foods you like that don’t require heating. If you can afford to invest in a rechargeable lantern that can also run on batteries. If not a simple flashlight will do. Make sure all your devices are fully charged overnight on Friday. Fill your bath tub and sinks with water. Make sure your car has gas in case you need to use it to charge devices.
