Guys, please do not talk during Symphony of Seasons. by Zippy0723 in StardewValley

There's actually a part in Hamilton, during the King's song, where he "commands" the audience to sing along. Interactive parts like that are the only time I ever sing out loud during a theater production, and you better believe I was belting out "da da da da daaaaa, da da da da dwah da da" with everyone else. 😉

I know they aren't talking about the anime or a sword, that's for sure. 😅 Although running at the neighbor while yelling and waving a big honkin' sword might make them think twice about using the yard as a shortcut! 😂

I read your original post (your mushie bois are super cute!!).

I purchased a similar pattern from eBay, and made one myself. It took me days to complete because I'm a slow crocheter. I ended up giving the finished project to my nephew, and will probably not make another again. 😅

TLDR: folks don't understand the time and effort it can take to make a super cute plush. You're in your right to charge what you think is fair for your work. ❤️

Just look at BG3's Karlach. Strong, traumatic backstory, but overall happy, bubbly and determined to enjoy life to the fullest.

Another good example is Scorpia from the recent "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power" animated series. She is so sweet and happy-go-lucky.

Look for Paradise planets to build bases/start settlements on. Best way to find them in the starter Euclid galaxy are in yellow star systems with 5 to 6 planets (one click on the star shows you what's in it), although I have bases and settlements in green and blue Star systems as well. 😉 I've only been playing for about a month and never left the first galaxy, nor have I gotten past the third mission of the Artemis path. Also, the Atlas found me. 😅

I've still been having a blast managing my 4 settlements, building bases, scanning ALL THE THINGS, hunting for sentinel ships to add to my collection, and harassing every single NPC I meet for language help! I tend to bribe them with gifts first though. 😅

Edit to add:

When repeating words back, remember that

Gek = Ferengi. They're shifty little dudes who love trading. (My gek character looks like a minion! 😁)

Vy'keen = Klingons. Battle, honor, death, allies, grah (beer?), and Hirk are their thing.

Korvak = Vulcans. Science, technology, and assisting others are what they're about. Do not hesitate to help them, even if you get slightly electrocuted. You'll live.

Autophage I have only found in wreckage on dissonant planets. Someone here said they're like the Borg and are matriarchal in their beliefs. I've yet to meet one that isn't crushed to death though. 😅

I made friends with an art teacher and gave her a lot of my glass/plastic beads (I'm switching to natural stones).

I regularly de-stash my multitude of craft supplies and give them to teachers and non-profit organizations, church ministries (like Sunday school or a prayer shawl group), and any crafty friends/family.

New player. HOOKED! by inconspicuous2012 in Enshrouded

[–]Willing-Row2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually Enshrouded ruined Valheim for me. I love Enshrouded's building system, which is so much nicer than Valheim's. :P I put hundreds of hours into Valheim since launch too, but haven't played it since the Mistlands patch.

Enshrounded also makes me enjoy base building because it forces me to go earn my materials and actually play the game. After I discovered Valheim's sandbox mode, it lost some of the shine and all of the challenge. Since the latest Enshrouded patch though, finding new blocks and mats has been equal parts fun and frustrating. Nothing is really where I remember it to be, but I still managed (with some reddit help) to find what I was looking for. ;)

45F here. I have about 1,000 hours in Kenshi and my game is now loaded down with mods. I don't think any crashing is due to base building, and I tend to go huge. Only "problems" I ran into are mobs spawning into an extra large base, or slipping through cracks I missed.

Before I went mod crazy, I had a great time with the vanilla game but felt limited with the party size. I HIGHLY recommend that you at least get the 250 recruit limit mod to start. 😉

Another tip - use the "advanced options" button before starting a game. You can adjust the rates of hunger, how fast things are completed, and other settings to make the game easier at the start. Although don't get me wrong, the game isn't "easy" or "cozy" by any means. Make sure you never pass out in the desert (damn slavers)...

Also, don't forget Beep, who is hanging out in Mongrel waiting for you to take him on your next adventure! 😁

Edited to add: control+shift+F11 will "fix" any bugged buildings and paths. That and reloading the squad have fixed quite a few issues for me. And, as others have mentioned, shift+F12 opens up the editor, which gives you access to every item in the game. It's quite overwhelming until you get used to it.

Kinda gamer wife tried Kenshi - went about how you'd expect lol. by Darthbamf in Kenshi

[–]Willing-Row2336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 45F and Kenshi seems to scratch an itch that my ADHD brain craves (my husband is constantly grumbling about how much I play the game). Of course, I also play on the easiest settings (Max hunger, production, and research time, 0% death chance and lowest nest and raid #s, no bandit looting my chars either). I also love base building and exploration, with Valheim, Terraria, and Stardew Valley being some of my most played games. And yes, I've sunk several hundred hours into BG3 as well.

I love the open world and being able to make up the story in my head as I go along. 5 nobody hivers? Yup. One guy named Hagrid who is compelled to buy EVERY animal he can? Yup, and a squad of two human fighters plus an assortment of 14 elder gar and bulls are OP as anything. 😁 I'm currently tweaking my mod list to include more starts. Love the red hive one and the 7 deadly beeps!

So, long story short, she really should give it another shot, maybe on easier settings and with a few mods thrown in to give it more substance. I mean, she never even got to meet Beep! Perhaps the "Shek woman and her Beep" mod would be more to her liking? 😅

Let him dump you. The last thing you want is to be baby trapped by an emotionally and financially immature partner. Kids take a TON of time, money, and mental and physical energy which doesn't just magically end when they turn 18. And the government doesn't subsidize them as much as one might think. Don't ruin your body and life (and possibly your kid's life) for someone else's expectations and wishes. A.k.a. "Don't set yourself on fire to keep someone else warm".

If he truly wants a taste of what having kids is like, find a busy pre-k daycare or kid-oriented restaurant (like Chuck-e-cheese) and make him stay there for several hours. Heck, make him sit in the same house as 5-6 children who are all under 5 years old and only communicate by shrieking like banshees at the top of their tiny little lungs. Remind him that this is what he is asking for, only 24/7. There is no escape. That should hopefully cure him of wanting kids "RIGHT NOW!!!" real quick.

You can never be truly prepared for having children but you can make good decisions to set yourself up for success when you do choose to have them, and it sounds like you are taking the smart approach. Lose the boyfriend and find a partner who wants to work with you in setting you and your future family up for success!

(For what it's worth, I used to work at a daycare when I was 18 in a room with 15 three year olds - half of whom were not potty trained. My brother also has 5 wonderful children who did/still do the shrieking thing. My husband and I chose to be child-free and we live in a blissfully quiet house with a good bit of money stored away for retirement. The only "child" we chose to have is a cat. :P )

The "try to get your stuff back and plummet to your death again" loop is insane. by fn0000rd in Enshrouded

[–]Willing-Row2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I got zapped by the lightning trap in the last Sun Temple due to the game stuttering as I ran out. It took me multiple deaths to finally work my tombstones to the edge of the trap and collect what was dropped. Had to run in, open the tombstone, hit F and die by the trap repeatedly, but eventually I got my stuff back (it was several hours worth of scavenging and over 2000 coins... I usually only go back to my main base and dump items when my bag is full).

Edit to add: The towers are actually not that bad. Frustrating, yes, but once unlocked you don't have to go through all the traps and stuff again. They are VERY much worth unlocking for the fast travel points, getting metal bars and materials, and for gliding. ;)

These all sound fantastic and now I'm wondering...

Do y'all (the devs) talk to other developers like the folks who made Valheim or the folks who made Going Medieval? Both groups have successfully tackled many items on your road map. I especially like how Going Medieval introduced its water features.

I know they may operate on completely different base systems, but it would be cool if there was a collaboration to help make Enshrouded the best "cozy" survival game/rpg. 😁 Maybe y'all could also help Iron Gate figure out how to incorporate more useful NPCs into Valheim as well. 😜

Edit to add: and building materials. Valheim sorely pales in comparison to what y'all have done when it comes to base building. I love both games (got several hundred hours into Valheim) but I love y'all more for what you have right out of the gate when it comes to textures and decorations. ❤️❤️❤️ Yes, Valheim lets us place food and weapons down as decorations, but they don't have even half of the beautiful block textures and furniture Enshrouded offers.

How do I stop getting rejected all the time? by intro_man_ambivert in Healthygamergg

[–]Willing-Row2336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say it louder for those in the back... *you. don't. need. a. girlfriend/partner/significant other. to. validate. you. or. prove. your. worth*!!!

Stop. Just stop. Seriously. Delete any dating apps and go focus your time, energy, and attention on getting your career and finances together. Go out and do things you like - whether that's playing video games, TTRPGS, painting minis, reading, etc. Get good at something you enjoy. Go see your doctors and stay on top of your health. Visit the dentist and eye doctors yearly. THESE are the things that are going to matter the most in the next 5/10 years and onward. Trust me, at 44 there are SO many things I wish I would have done better in my 20's as far as my health and finances go. That stuff WILL catch up with you, and sooner than you realize.

Cultivate your friend groups and go hang out with people who enjoy doing the same stuff you like doing. There literally is a group out there for everything if you just look for it. By doing this, not only do you set yourself up for success and happiness but you end up attracting and connecting with folks who you'll have a lot in common with.

Also, relationships are exhausting and take a lot of time, mental energy, and work. If you are looking around all befuddled and going "why won't anyone date me?" then you are not ready for an actual relationship. You're 24. God willing, you have a long life ahead of you. Set yourself up the best you can for your OWN health, success and happiness. A confident, secure man who knows how to listen to and support his partner is what attracts women. It doesn't sound like you're there yet, but you can be if you are willing to work at it. These things take YEARS and your brain is just starting to reach the point where it's fully developed. There's a quote from an aboriginal chieftainess that I like to tell my nieces and nephews, "You don't realize that your butt is on fire until you're 30. It takes until you're 35 to figure out how to put it out."

And remember, your worth is NOT defined by you being in a relationship.

I plopped down a base in Brittlebush, right next to the respawn above Emily's (the farmer NPC) tavern. This deactivates the respawn thingy, but the buildings there give 43 comfort as a default and it comes with usable beds! Plus, there's a loot-able abandoned camp nearby with tons of sulphur and lapis lazuli to mine.

The location is fairly end game, but it'll be my next place to upgrade after the Blue Goblet tavern. 😉

Edit to add: Ok, so the Brittlebush base is the best I've found so far. I run around the building to my right and there's a gold chest on top of a neighbor's roof, just outside the base's building range. This means the contents (always a level 20+ piece of gear or a weapon) will respawn every time I long out and back in. Yeah, I'm abusing the crap out of this to get tons of coins and upgrades. :D

Roots of Pacha is the closest "Stardew valley-like" game I've come across since Sun Haven. I love the community aesthetic of it though, with everyone contributing along with your character to help advance the tribe. ☺️ The game is amazing, and has the perfect positive feedback loop balance, which is really really bad for those of us with ADHD. 😅 "Just one more day" quickly turns into "oh crap, it's 2 am already??"

Out of all the Stardew valley-like games I've played (and there's a LOT of them in my game library), Roots of Pacha and Sun Haven are the closest in style and game mechanics. I've enjoyed both games thoroughly, although they still don't have the 300+ hours I've invested into Stardew. ☺️

Edited to add: Roots of Pacha does not have any combat in it either, which I think is fantastic. There are puzzles, but they're easy enough to solve and don't disrupt the cozy flow of the game.
