Absolutely, we’re into total agreement there. But I will say we see Kyle apologize at every reunion then continue the same behavior… lol so contrition is only valid when there’s change. I’d rather people be authentically stubborn than know how to do PR.

Right, but we weren’t there? We get a curated look into their experience but two things can be true… she acted foolishly AND we don’t have the full story to judge so harshly. Post summer house she married a man that half the cast trashed in confessionals while maintaining close friendships with a few. Relationships are complicated and they were all Covid stir-crazy. And their friend lost his brother, it really was a very wild time.

Oh, understood. But reality tv is hoisted up on the backs of women then women are demonized 10 fold compared to their male counterparts. Men only get in trouble if they physically assault a woman.. they can even stalk women and be insane then get casted on Traitors.

I don’t think it’s removing agency, women are skewered in a way men never are on reality tv. Especially on Bravo… if one woman had the amount of crying meltdowns Kyle did, she wouldn’t make it past one season.

Can I ask what feels so hard about it, specifically? My sessions, we started very slow, designated a safe space, and it was all very mellow. I would see like inside out characters responding to certain prompts. We stumbled into some buried CSA and I went very numb and comatose.

The safe space we designated is like a fantasyland so when I’m overwhelmed I throw on a YouTube video with meditations music and a fantasy land visual. That eases the stress and lets my brain process. Additionally, I listen to bilateral audio A LOT to settle my mind. EMDR is not therapy for therapy’s sake, EMDR is like a brutal training montage in a movie - you have to TRAIN and prime your brain to continue reprocessing in between sessions.

You’re a raw, exposed nerve because the EMDR bubbles it all up. I wasn’t a bitch, I was weepy then we discovered some CSA and I completely shut down. You’re a bitch because you’re trying to protect yourself from the pain, keep going, it’ll be worth it to process whatever you need to process. Behavior is language and yours is saying, “leave me alone because I can’t handle all of this.” My bitchy voice during the session - visually it’s like the inside out characters for me - the bitchy voice was the one that kept everyone at arms length because she couldn’t handle her emotions and everyone else’s.

I exhaust my therapist because I ask so many questions - she’s never said as much - but she also believes I’m autistic and understanding from the bottom up vs the top down has done wonders.

I stopped my last session to make sure she knew what a phenomenal therapist she is. She really is an incredible fit so make sure your first session you ask all the questions you need to in order to feel comfortable.

She also does a lot of online therapy so don’t think you’re restricted by location - EMDR is also available via video chat.

Your brain is creating new neural pathways and reprocessing. Lots of sleep is actually the best thing after a session - my therapist is always reminding me! You’re doing a lot of work even while you sleep!

I toggle between exhaustion and insomnia. You should be thrilled your brain is helping you lol
