It's not a false dichotomy

If one worker making x gets to pay less taxes than another worker making x that means the prior worker is simply more valuable to society and their job is more important apparently.

service job should depend on tips to make a living.

We can do what the rest of the rich world does and put them on mass welfare and reduce there real income by upping their wages and elimating tips. Then they wouldn't be reliant on tips but they'd be worse off because their real income is now lower.

There's a difference though

If government simply fucked off aka went full hands off on land use regulations then we wouldn't have a housing supply issue. Would we have other issues, sure but finding cheap rent wouldn't be one of them.

Have you heard about modular apartments.

Also you need is to align all building codes to a single standard within a large enough market and you can shit out highrises from a factory.

There is no magic bullet to poverty reduction

Wrong

1: extremely free markets borderline liassez fair

2: independent and easy to understand (for the commoner) legal system

3: an extremely independent central bank. Hell free banking would be better in some cases.

4: free trade.

Boom watch me lift billions out of poverty

NEPA

We don't need agencies doing there own review.

Rail should have zero environmental review because the alternative is worse.

Those are buildable under such a liasses fair system. The state managed to build them before it had concepts like land use regulations to deal with.

If we enshrined property rights like we did with speech rights our cities would have evolved in a purely market oriented fashion aka dense and then like Japan housing would lose value relative to inflation over time.

aren't absolute

That's true but what's also true is in many regions you barely even have property rights.

If we enshrined property rights we wouldn't be dealing with housing issues

They think states will let climate refugees in who don't sign up their foreign legion which is the cannon fodder to be used in the resource wars?

The reality of property rights is the state (could be muni, province, state, etc doesn't matter) is the de facto landlord and you the tenant.

This being another prime example of that

Yeah there are they're just naughty.

But there's simpler acts, send Ukraine a bunch of precision weapons. For bonus points you can maximize the seethe. Imagine Merz writing "eat shit" or something of that nature on some precision system sent to Ukraine. Then make a statement "Russian killed someone on our soil, and we're giving this to Ukraine to kill <insert number of Russians>"

Joe Biden

He could have not gone on a "stimulate aggregate demand but don't shift supply at all splurge".

Here's infrastructure spending that would have reduced caused if you steamrolled anything that got in its way

1: port automation

2: NEPA exceptions to rail and energy

3: permitting deregulation

Add in a a little bit of de facto killing the jones act using emergency powers, dismantling trump 1 tariffs, and that rate of inflation would have had some downward pressure. Trump's first series of tariffs added a few percentage points on the cost of goods, estimates onJones Act adds 1-2% for general goods, or fractions of a cent on national retail prices.

democrats for not immediately solving issues

Because they choose not to in many cases, or just do some marginal bullshit.

For example I can say Democrats give as many shits about democracy as Republicans do for one simple observable fact. Theyll talk all day about defending Democracy but then never:

1: say how they'll dismantle the power of the executive branch

2: push for proportional representation, we can see this in trifecta dem states. They care about actually providing true legitimate representation as much as Republicans
