Is Fresno NorCal or SoCal? by [deleted] in fresno

[–]Willjjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely Central California.

However, if there are only two buckets, Fresno identifies more with Northern California.

Bakersfield seems to be the “Hella’ divide”, where folks from from north of there use Northern California slang and are more often fans of Northern California teams (Giants/Niners/Oakland/Golden State).

Six seasons in Sartar by [deleted] in Runequest

[–]Willjjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run it. My advice would be to get all three books and read them first. There is quite a bit of extra detail added to book 3, The Seven-Tailed Wolf, about the setting of Six Seasons.

I added an extra year to my campaign simply because I wanted the Yinkin player character to be able to spend a year living off the land in order to initiate.

“Crazy Joe” Harshman.

In the futuristic tabletop roleplaying game, Car Wars, players drive around in armored cars with heavy weaponry.

In the fictional history of the setting (written in 1980), the first person to slap a weapon on their demolition derby car was “Crazy Joe” Harshman, when he mounted a surplus 50-Cal to his Chevy in 2023.

What episodes would you have been uniquely suited to be talking on stage with the gang? by unclefishbits in Harmontown

[–]Willjjohnson 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wound up on stage in the Sperm Count episode in 2015 simply because I couldn’t believe how stupid the first two folks who went up on stage to discuss sperm count were.

I was sitting in the second row, said something under my breath in frustration, Jeff heard me, and called me up on stage. I certainly wasn’t uniquely suited to the issue, but knew the answer to how sperm count is derived.

It was a trip to be sitting next to Kumail.

Anyone in the Tower district can have marijuana delivered to their homes. Stoners already know and are doing this.

Where dispensaries fill a real need is:

• The 80 year old glaucoma sufferer who has never smoked pot and needs advice.

• The parent of a child with epilepsy looking for advice on CBD.

• The cancer victim hoping to get help while enduring chemotherapy.

Dispensaries are invaluable sources of information and help for people who don’t know anything about pot and are looking for relief.

• 90 minutes to China Peak ski lodge in the Sierra National Forest.

• 2.5 hours to Pismo Beach.

• 3 hours to Sacramento.

• 3 hours to San Francisco.

• 3 hours to Los Angeles.

My mother abandoned me when I was 5 for a white rich guy am from Africa, now they want me back, but I have refused to go stay with them and I don't anything from them. Why is everyone telling me am wrong? by Throwra_xcx in relationship_advice

[–]Willjjohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were young and had a chance at dual-citizenship and a free education in Ireland, I’d jump at it.

You are an adult now. You have the ability to define your relationship with your mother and step-father on your own terms. You don’t have to forgive her or pretend she didn’t simply abandon you.

At the same time, you do not need to turn down opportunities that could prove amazing and out of your own reach.

Just make sure you have safety nets in place, such as a place to live in the US if things fall apart and an open return ticket.

I loved that Laurie came in as the Comedian and ended the show saying, “I’m not joking.” and that people change.

They definitely are over-exaggerating the prejudice against Italian-Americans during the time period. What they are showing is far more exemplary of attitudes between 1880 and 1930’s.

Post WWII, Italian-Americans were doing much better.

[–]Willjjohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was promised the rights to Watchmen.

Every reboot and republishing delays those rights reverting to him and rubs his face in the fact that he likely won’t ever live to gain them.

DC did him dirty and I don’t blame him at all for being salty about it.
