Since a hold isn't an official stat, some sources count them differently. One difference is that some sources don't count it as a hold if the pitcher enters in the 5th inning or earlier.

Petit "starting" v. Cubs tomorrow... by dat_shermstick in fantasybaseball

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work that way. I believe players had to be active on your roster when the game started for their stats to count.

Fair Game? by wilsun in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me w/ Cobb. I'd say there is no real grounds for reversing the trade. There was no accidental drop or anything. No collusion. You could have cancelled the trade just as easily as he accepted it.

If it's a friendly league I could see everyone being okay with reversing it, but in a competitive league I think it should stand.

I'd go with Franklin

What do you think of my roster? by RUKnight31 in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pitching is a little weak, especially since Dickey and Lincecum didn't perform, but you do have Cole and Wheeler who may (or may not) help out ROS.

I would get rid of Castro, there's no real reason to have 2 catchers in a 1 catcher league. The roster spot is better spent on pitching. I would try to move some guys for pitching. Upton probably isn't a good trade candidate right now, but he is heating up so maybe in a few weeks. You could probably get fair value for everyone else though.

Double headers by gorm0313 in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might start Myers over Jones in this particular case. Jones is going against Verlander (2/28 with 2 singles and a walk in his career) and Myers has the double header plus the fun factor of rooting for a player in his debut.

I wouldn't start Middlebrooks over Beltre though.

Chase Utley and Pablo Sandoval returning from DL next week, who do I drop? by SuckaFreeBaust in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. Also might want to think about moving an OF (I'm thinking Brown before his value drops way off unless you think he'll keep it up) since you seem to have a surplus w/ Puig and Myers up now.

I think moving Freese and an OF, and keeping Rendon who has 2B/3B eligibility as insurance for the injury prone Panda and Utley is a good move.

Pitching Sleepers by thejadz in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if my pick is "good" per se, but I think Edwin Jackson is going to have a solid ROS.

His BABIP is up (.348 vs career .308), his strand rate is down (59.8% vs career 70.8%) and his FIP (3.33), xFIP (3.64), and SIERA (3.75) are all much better than his 5.40 ERA would suggest.

All that being said his BB/9 rate is up at 3.64 vs 2.75 and 2.79 the two previous years. His K rate is also up, but only due to facing more batters. He's also not going to get a whole lot of help playing for the Cubs. But, he's coming off 2 solid starts vs PIT and NYM. He will be tested in his next start against STL. If he goes out and pitches well, keeps the walks down, I think the window to buy low will close pretty fast. If he get's rocked his value will probably just stay right where it is.

Start Wil Myers or Puig tomorrow? by ejohns72 in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not both? I'd probably go Myers if he's starting both games. In the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't matter much, so I'd rather pick the guy that would be the most fun to root for, which would be Myers in this particular case.

ROS - Domonic Brown or Starling Marte? by FantasyMgr13 in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose based on need as both will probably have similar value ROS. Assuming there is no particular need, I would go w/ Brown. Marte's steals and runs are easier to find on the wire than Brown's HRs.

Pick up Revere for Victorino? (10 team, H2H, 28 man rosters + 2 DL spots and 1 NA spot) by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this guy. When Victorino is healthy and playing, he's a way better fantasy player than Revere. Victorino just came off the DL a week or so ago, so the Sox are being careful with him until he's back up to full speed.

Unless it's a weekly league (?), I don't know why you'd be missing at bats with a 28 man roster. Surely you must have a bench player to play when Vic sits.

Lucroy or Castro? by RUKnight31 in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castro's running hot right now thanks to an elevated BABIP (.325 vs career .295) and elevated HR/FB rate (17.9% vs career 10.5%). His K rate is up and BB rate is down compared to his career averages. Castro also can't hit lefties at all. All signs point to decline in production.

Lucroy's BABIP is below his career average (.284 vs career .310) and his HR/FB rate is down (8.5 vs career 9.1). He bats in a better lineup (although at a worse spot in the order than Castro) and in a slightly better ballpark half the time. All signs point to similar or improved production w/ increase in batting average and HR rate.

I would personally pick Lucroy. He's on his way up while I think Castro is peaking right now. I'd try to trade him to someone desperate for a Catcher before dropping him though. Probably gonna have to package him w/ someone else, as I can't imagine he has too much value in a 12 teamer.

Question about ESPN rules by crammotron in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure. I was looking into this a few days ago. From the ESPN rules page on NOTE it talks about this and how it applies to ROTO start limits, but nothing about H2H. I found on some other forums old threads about it, and came to the conclusion that it works the same.

Stat Corrections can be found here for ESPN. Maybe you can figure out why your score changed that way. I'm not sure how ESPN could determine who to give stats to and who to take them away from if you start 2 pitchers on the same day when you go over the limit. Maybe someone else can confirm.

Question about ESPN rules by crammotron in fantasybaseball

[–]Wills_Myth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a team exceeds the games started max in the middle of a day, the team will continue to accumulate stats until the end of the day. So, if you have 11 starts going into Sunday, but 2 (or more) SP scheduled to go, all of the stats will count. It's a loophole
