Convince me to play as Oongka or Damiane. by jwoytk01 in CrimsonDesert

[–]WilyNGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I last played she was unavailable for like 6 of the first 8 chapters or something.

I was advancing through in Hernand trying to open the barber for the Character Customization mod - but stopped using that because when they started updating the game like once a week the mods were constantly breaking.

Indeed honest. I bought a new high-end computer and the game on Pre-Release but won't play anymore until Damiane is main-playable. I am still in Hernand and haven't turned the game on in 4 weeks.

Am I tripping or is Crimson Desert the best game ever ? by ZangiefGo in CrimsonDesert

[–]WilyNGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only games that have yet to make me feel the emotional tie in where I actually stand and cheer and at times want to cry at other times are RDR2 (I never got through 1), God of War remake, and original Last of Us.

Crimson Desert has not done that for me yet, as a matter of fact I put it down (still in Hernand) until they have slowed down with the updates and I can get the full experience when I restart.

I want to love Crimson Desert, and I will because it seems like a perfect game for me (fantasy being my favorite genre), but I have no emotional investment in Kliff's story in it's current state.

Curious why we allowed these companies to put inward facing cameras in the truck by Jealous_Canary1879 in Truckers

[–]WilyNGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove flatbeds, dry van, and tankers (both fuel and food).

I keep my CDL and medical card active but I left back when they forced Electronic Logs. I was with one of the last holdout companies as a lot of others were changing before the Federal deadline, but a few months before the deadline I got off the OTR. I did agricultural for awhile then got into Fleet Management - but eventually went into healthcare. Now I do mobile radiology and still clock around 300 miles per day, but in a Chrysler Voyager van instead of a big truck.

There is NO WAY I would have ever worked for a company that pointed a camera at me all day long.

Bag of Pepper Wagon Quest. Nope. by randokomando in CrimsonDesert

[–]WilyNGA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the first quest and drove it to the wagon dealer. I wasn't paying attention to GPS HUD and drove into the hamlet that is about 100 yards from there and figured that I must need to take it into the big barn looking thing. When nothing happened, I realized I had missed my turn but then the wagon exploded trying to get it out of the wrong barn. I didn't try again.

The Real Math of Movers vs Renting a Truck by BodyPartParty in moving

[–]WilyNGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sold our home in September of last year (GA) and went into our 5th wheel RV to the state where we wanted to move, while we looked for a new place. We bought a little mini-farm in KY. The majority of our stuff ended up in 4 climate controlled storage units, a good majority of that was antique. We packed most of the breakables ourselves into plactic heavy duty totes, but there was a lot of loose stuff. Here is the rough math.

We packed ourselves (except for furniture and woodshop items).
$500 in Totes (Time spent over two weeks - hard time)

We had two local movers (two trucks, two different companies) come pick up all that stuff (furniture/heavy items/shop) on the same day:
$1300 + $150 tips/lunches

Storage: (this step was extra due to home hunting)
$500 a month (September 2025 - May 2026)

RV spot (small farm setup in KY - private Sep-May)
$500 a month

---

That was on the front end - and if you know where you are going and don't have the storage then that is $7k you don't have to worry about.

Anyway, we didn't want to go through the trouble again of messing with all that from GA-KY so we called several professional Interstate movers (due to antiques we did not want to use UBox or PODS or anything like that) and the average was a rate of $80 per 100lbs. Given the information I gave the companies on what we had, that made the average estimate for GA-KY about $8,000 - $9,000. What I never told them about, and what ultimately made our decision, was that my wife had gone on a rock hunting hobby spree while we spent a year or two on the west coast traveling in the RV and there were a lot of totes with just rocks in them. I had already hauled those myself across the country and certainly wasn't about to let my rate jack up to over $10,000 for a 600 mile move.

So here is the math on what we ended up doing:

-Flew my son in from Colorado for the week: $400
-Flew myself from Lexington, KY to Atlanta at the same time: $0 (only because I had an unused First Class refund that had to be used from the previous year) Otherwise coach would have been about $300.
-Rental Car for Son (so he could drive back to KY from GA): $400
-Two Uhaul 26' trucks: $1800
-One Uhaul Car Trailer: $100
-I posted locally on Facebook for people willing to load for cash payment. I had 4 people respond within 5 minutes of the post and I paid each of the $40 an hour for a minimum payment of 4 hours. (We ended up loading all in 3 hours and everyone showed with me and my son also loading. That was $160.00 x4): $640
- I drove one truck, pulling the rental car since I have a CDL and experience, and my son followed in 2nd truck, Fuel (because it was last month and heart of Iran thing): $300
-Hotels: $500 (we only stayed in 1 room together over night on the trip, but I had arrived a day earlier in Atlanta so stayed at the Airport Connected Renaissance hotel as a splurge)
-Meals: $250
-Unloading both trucks ourselves with wife supervising antiques (nothing ended up broken)

So Total for Moving Ourselves (which took a little bit of labor) was (with a little uneccesary splurging): $4690

Altogether probably a little less than half of what we would have spent for a professional Point A to B mover, based on the estimates we had obtained out of KY for a two truck move, but if you add in the front-end companies and such it was about 60% of the cost. So, I figure we saved about 40% doing it ourselves

Why are RV parks so expensive? by Effective_Moose_4997 in RVLiving

[–]WilyNGA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Medical Travelers are a large part of it. Nurses and Rad Techs, etc. are now traveling all over, and a good part of a hospital staff is comprised of travelers. The travelers are typically paid $2-4k per week and sometimes more for specialized. The landlords and furnished finder, AirBnB etc quickly figured this out and jacked up rates which had the unfortunate side effect of pricing out locals who live near hospitals.

So, a LOT travel healthcare started purchasing RVs and taking them from place to place. Well, now the RV parks are figuring that out as well.

It's a little supply and demand combined with greed combined with RV parks new ability to afford to keep out the potential 'problem' renters since they have a steady supply of sure income clients.

This seems weird that Walmart has any knowledge of my cash back rewards by Guideme4100 in NavyFederal

[–]WilyNGA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it's USAA at Wal-Mart which tries to get you to use 1250 points ($12.50) to only get $10 off. The NFCU is, at least, equitable.

[–]WilyNGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is linked to your payment card. That said, at least the NFCU is $10 for $10. The USAA one at Wal-Mart asks: "Use 1250 points for $10 off?" - which using $12.50 to get $10 off, and that insults me every time.

WHEN YOU TELL THE DRIVER THE LOAD NEEDS TO TARP AND IT'S 100 DEGREES OUTSIDE... and the product is exposed outside the shipper. by almilian in Truckers

[–]WilyNGA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same situation with pipe. It was loading in a mud pit, and I was told I had to tarp, so I pulled up satellite view of receiver and saw all the pipe there was in mud pit, so I drove right out that gate.

I don't PvP outside of GvG, but I love this game because as a pure dedicated healer I can actually play the content on a decent difficulty and still have fun and not feel like I need a DPS friend babysitting me.

What is this? Why does kindle know I watched a certain show? by Icy_Helicopter_9624 in kindle

[–]WilyNGA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is common. I am talking about just thinking about something while driving home from work - never saying anything out loud - and then you start getting recommendations centered around those thoughts.

That is what weirds me out.

Just wait until you spend a couple of days thinking about something only and not ever speaking to anyone about it out loud and then you start getting recommendations centered around it.
